Auto-detection worked great for me: Milton, Florida, USA. Actually found a weather station slightly closer than the one I had been using manually!

Hello Pasha,

I did what you suggested, because the very first time I installed Yowindows
it specified my location as Waalre, which is about 5 kilometers from Veldhoven (where I live),
both in the Netherlands.
But it appeared that Veldhoven wasn't even in the location database.
Meanwhile it is, but after installing Geo..thing and de- and reinstalling Yowindows, the program still
detects Waalre as my location.

Sorry to say, if location detection is done by IP it is very unaccurate.

Running W7 x64. The RC detected my location OK and selected the nearest METAR. However, it did not detect my installed GPS on the system, so I'm assuming the Lat/Lon shown is that of the METAR location.

John,

You're right, YoWindow doesn't communicate with the GPS on your system. As Pasha said above, it's done by ip address and isn't very accurate.

It may happen that YoWindow has detected your place via GPS, however it saved the place as the closest location to your GPS coordinates. That is why the coordinates in Location/Properties are different from the lat/lon of your real coordinates.
Get YoWindow weather app for your phone or tablet.
