stop flash animation

Hi,
for fast machines YoWindow is beautiful, but for slow ones it would be nice to be able to stop flash animations (namely the clouds are CPU power consuming). I read that in previous versions this was possible and now it isn't any more. Is that correct? Would it be possible to re-introduce this feature?

Hi Volker,

Yowindow 3 needs so low resources (in contrary to older versions) that nearly every computer can handle it. There was never an option to stop the flash animation. Yowindow without animation will be not Yowindow!

no, I disagree. Lucky you with with a fast machine. I'm talking of a fancy fanless Atom CPU system (up-to-date) and similar setups to that. Unfortunately, there is definitely a need to be able to stop flash animations. I'm not talking of disabling flash completely. Just the clouds. On a sunny day everything is fine, but clouds on a cloudy day are causing trouble, not only in the real weather ;)
All other animations I saw so far are fine.

You may be wrong with thinking there was never an option for that. I came to the idea, because I found this topic here in this forum:

There will be no way to stop animation in Village landscape to pump up the performance. Sorry.

Also, in the FAQ there's an interensting point:

- Shrink window size (the greater window area, the slower animation)
- Decrease full-screen display mode resolution
- Alter picture quality
- Hide foreground grass or disable grass animation

First point works. The others don't. Can you try, please? Maybe I'm too stupid. This is what I was especially after:

This option disables clouds animation.
Running clouds slow down YoWindow very much.

I'm sorry not to agree with your arguments. In the topic you are talk about http://he1.yowindow.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=4453 is nothing to read about your suggestion. I agrre with you about the FAQ's ... but there are point out the possible problems with the old version 2. So this have to delete and I will tell this to Pasha.
You talk about to stop the animation of clouds ... what about rain or snow or thunderstorms with clouds????
Yowindow will show the real weather situations like a window and not only the" sunny site of the street". Animation is not a "feature" ... it is the most important part of Yowindow!
Up to now I'm missing a serious description of your problem.
I'm not able to check the situation with Atom (I don't know what "a similar setup" should be). Perhaps another user can do this and report it.

Hi, friends!

I have to admit YoWindow has become less tolerable to slow PCs in version 3.
We had to remove these wonderful performance optimization features to release YoWindow 3 as soon as possible.
Probably some day we will get them back.

I have removed the article about speed optimization because it does not make sense for YoWindow 3, unfortunately

There is a thing that you may not know.
If you switch to another application YoWindow will freeze all animations, though the picture will be still reflecting the actual weather.
