New RC :Yahoo!:

1. Major internal changes.
I have changed YoWindow significantly inside.
To make it work faster on mobile devices.
I think you will certainly find some errors I have overlooked.
Please report anything you can find, this is very important.

2. Overcast sky is brighter now in the day. I think now it looks closer to reality.

3. Fireworks!

YoWindow will salute to you if you type "firework" on the keyboard.

Also fireworks will launch automatically if you open YoWindow...
AFTER sunset time plus 1 hour. It usually gets dark enough at this time,
but BEFORE 1 am in the night.
This is going to happen in LIVE mode only and only once per day.

Let me know if you to notice this condition is not met.

Now fireworks launched automatically every day.
But in the final release fireworks will be auto launched on Friday night only.
Otherwise users may get tired of fireworks.

A simple fireworks prototype was originally implemented by Dima (our friend programmer) 1.5 years ago.
But because of technical problems I had to do the work again from scratch.
It took me around 2 weeks to make fireworks look quite nice and run fast.

Still I'm not totally happy with the quality of the animation.
I hope we will improve it by the time of the release.

When fireworks are run, the clouds in the sky are frozen (not moved).
This helps to improve fireworks effect quality.

Please comment in this post if fireworks are fast or slow on your computer.
If the effect is TOO slow, please let me know your computer configuration.

Here's a little surprise.
This was the first time I was working with sound.
Yes, fireworks can be run with sound.
However, we are not going to release sound support officially this time yet.

But if you are curious how fireworks sound like, you can turn sound on by modifying options.xml
Make sure to exit YoWindow prior to editing options.xml
Add <sound on="true"/> tag inside <wimo> tag like shown below

Code: Select all

<options>
  <wimo locale="en">
	<sound on="true"/>
    <license autoId="123456789" type="free"/>
We are going to add sound effects to YoWindow pretty soon.

How do you like fireworks? ;)

Of very good job, fireworks are magnificent.

Fireworks look very good...

Though I would prefer to see them go up before they explode...

Think they expand a bit too fast...

Also multicolor explosions would be terrific...

+ a brighter landscape when they explode...(just like in lightning...)

Also trigger is a bit long...why don't you change it to pyro...(much easier to type)

Is this going to be available in the widget too ?

Other than that...Gr8 job !!!

I would like to see them go up also - some kind of trail from the ground to the point they explode. Not always a straight line.

Hi Pasha,

the firework looks great BUT:
1. I could not hear any noice
2. the forecast show clear by night for all days
3. we have 2 o'clock in the night and it is not really night
4. I tried to make a normal screenshot with "print" and my system is complete frozen (maybe it is only my problem, see my seperate post). So this screen was made with the snipping tool.

Hi Pasha,

The Fireworks look great. I have tried the sound on both my WinXP and Win7 and the sound is nice. Once I find my earphones, I will try the sound out with them.

I like the suggestion that Wally and Reinhart have already posted. Every once and a while, show the fireworks going up.

You have said that the final release of the fireworks would be automatic on Friday night only. Seven nights a week would be too much. Why not have Friday night and Saturday night during the summer months? It would also be nice to have fireworks be automatic on holidays such as New Year's Eve, USA's 4th of July, and others.

The following are some issues that I have found while testing the Fireworks.

It was 11:58 PM (or 23:58) and the fireworks displayed automatically and completely finished. At 1 second after Midnight, the fireworks displayed automatically all over again. Even though Midnight is a new day, should this have happened? Also, the fireworks had just displayed completely. I was then clicking on forecast panels one by one. I then went back to LIVE and the fireworks displayed automatically all over again.

The Time Bar shows the Sun at Midnight and the Moon at 3:00 PM (or 15:00). It should be showing the Moon at Midnight and the Sun at 3:00 PM (or 15:00).
The Inspector is displaying Sun at night and the Moon during the day.
The Forecast Panels are displaying Moon icons for the 3:00 PM (or 15:00) forecast.

Other than the Sun at night and the Moon during the day, I am enjoying the Fireworks.

Good Job.

Thank you - thank you guys :)

First of all - today my sister is getting married, so don't expect the updates soon :)

Let me try to answer to the questions.

1. Moon displayed instead of sun in the forecast panel - certainly a bug and it will be fixed.

2. "Though I would prefer to see them [fireworks] go up before they explode..."
Fireworks are animated in a small portion of the screen to keep them running fast.
The more screen space they take - the slower they are going to be.
So when the screen size is big fireworks are animated in a rectangle area in the center near horizon.

Anyway, I will try to take care about this issue.
Probably expanding the animation area upwards will not hurt.

3. "Think they expand a bit too fast"

Probably.

4. "Also multicolor explosions would be terrific"

There is one, in the end.

5. "a brighter landscape when they explode...(just like in lightning...)"

A very good idea, I did not think about it.
However, hard to achieve because of performance optimizations.
This is a feature for the future.

6. "Also trigger is a bit long...why don't you change it to pyro...(much easier to type)"

I like "firework"
This is a secret key combination, remember.

7. "Is this going to be available in the widget too ?"

Yes, and in Chrome as well.

8. "...some kind of trail from the ground to the point they explode. Not always a straight line."

Yes, exactly the behaviour I wish to add.
This is a feature for the future, not easy to do.

9. "I could not hear any noice"

Werner, did I understand you correctly?
Don't you hear the sound?
Have you modified options.xml like I have described?

10. "we have 2 o'clock in the night and it is not really night"

I do not understand.
Can you explain in details what exactly is wrong?

11. "I tried to make a normal screenshot with "print" and my system is complete frozen..."

I could not repeat this crash on my computer.
Try to press PrintScreen when YoWindow is opened in Internet Explorer.
Will PC hang up?

12. "Once I find my earphones, I will try the sound out with them."

By the way, the sound is in stereo. The fireworks that blow up on the left are heard in the left sound channel.

13. "Why not have Friday night and Saturday night during the summer months?"

Well, probably.
However we think about Firework as an indication (celebration?) of the upcoming holiday.

14. "It would also be nice to have fireworks be automatic on holidays such as New Year's Eve, USA's 4th of July, and others."

Exactly!
I want fireworks to fire up on the eve of these holidays.
But this is not an easy to do feature.
YoWindow needs to know when public holidays happen in each country.
And they frequently change the dates (at least in Russia) on top of that.

Feature for the future.

15. "At 1 second after Midnight, the fireworks displayed automatically all over again."

Just a perfect testing, thank you, Marty, certainly an error.

Thank you again, I'm happy you like our new work.
By the way, Olympics is on the way and we are going to add a little surprise for them also.

Fireworks are fantastic....well done :Bravo:
Another two suggestions to the great ones that have been put forward:
Like balloons could we press Ctrl F to make our own display?
When the display is in full swing, there needs to be a reflection in the sea (seaside) and in the stream(oriental)
You can see the reflection of the moon in the water, so will this be possible.
Great job so far x
