One More Thing To Consider Please

Post by weatherock »

I meant to mention this earlier but I forgot. But in a future version, would it be possible to have YoWindow keep track of events? I don't know what it is called specifically, but I am meaning events like the high and low temperatures during a 24 hour period (midnight to midnight/a calendar day), amount of precipatation during the same period. Those types of things. The types of things that a personal weather station usually keeps track of. Only in this circumstance, it would be the weather service that we are using. I think this may be a nice addition. It is the type of information that would interest me. But others may not need or want the information. It's just a thought. Perhaps that type of information would best be stored and shown inside the program like within the settings windows. I would hate to see that information clutter such beautiful scenery.

weatherrock,

I imagine this might be possible for YoWindow (usually anything is possible with a lot of work and increase in code), but a better solution might be for you to buy a copy of Weather Display or similar. WD can run in "stationless" mode and use METAR data instead of that from a PWS. Then in the future, maybe you'll get an entry level PWS and join our great hobby.

I'm guessing by the context of your reply post JMCMURRY that a PWS is a "personal weather station", correct? Besides http://www.wunderground.com, can you recommend any other sites for good information on PWSes, reviews, etc? I've never heard of Weather Display (http://www.weather-display.com), but I admit that I have never been a student of weather either. This is all fairly new to me. ;)

Jeff,

There are several different software packages for personal weather stations and I happen to use Weather Display and know that it will run in a "stationless" mode using METAR data rather than that from your own station. I imagine several others will too. You can learn a lot more about WD on their forum at http://www.weather-watch.com/smf/index.php and there's another great forum at http://www.wxforum.net/index.php that isn't specific to any particular software package.
