Although YoWindow shows snow in my hometown Wijchen, there actually is none.

As long as you aren't using a PWS (personal weather station) displaying snow depends on the temperature and/or the season for your city.

You can check the season for your location in the "location properties" menu from the "location"-menu:

Please read Pavels introduction to asking for special season-setting for a location - thank you!

(Last but not least please remember that the current weather is taken from the nearest METAR-station which can be several kilometers away and the weather there may differ from the weather outside your real-life-window ;) )

Thanks for your reply ikarus1969, but actually I can't believe this is true, because now YoWindow shows no snow in WIjchen (while is actually snows right now, but I guess that will be updated within an hour) without me changing anything regarding the season or location properties. ;)

Just for clarification: season-settings are nothing YOU can change. Pavel has to implement it in YoWindow for each and every location (if you want something other than what is used as a default).

In some other post Pavel explained when snow is displayed.

As far as i know (but i'm not completely sure) METAR-stations (used for current weather) does not provide snow-information, so Pavel implemented a temperature-and-season-dependent algorithm for displaying snow.

If a snow level is provided by the PWS, then it will control the display of snow. If that value is not provided, then it will be controlled by the dates that Pavel has set for that location. This is a great capability for the PWS sites and works very well.

Hi Hangro,

At the moment the settings for Holland are:
01.01:winter/02.01:naked/04.20:spring/06.21:summer/09.23:autumn/11.15:naked
This means:
- 01.01:winter - Winter Landscape from jan. 1st 'till feb. 1st (regardless of precipitation and/or temperature)
- 02.01:naked - Naked Landscape from feb. 2nd 'till apr. 19th (unless temperature is -5 or less: then Winter Landscape!)
- 04.20:spring - Spring Landscape from apr. 20th 'till jun. 20th
- 06.21:summer - Summer Landscape from jun. 21st 'till sep. 22nd
- 09.23:autumn - Autumn Landscape from sep. 23d 'til nov. 15th
- 11.15:naked: Naked Landscape from nov. 15th 'till jan. 1st (unless temperature is -5 or less: then Winter Landscape!)

As you can see from the 2nd and last line, the naked landscape has an exceptional 'view' in a way that it shows the winter landscape (snow) when it gets below -5 degrees Centigrade or else the naked landscape.

Since these are the only parameters we can change at this moment, we have chosen this compromise of landscape changes, where most of them change on the calendar season changing dates.
BTW: they can only be changed by Repkasoft, not by user (yet).

Hope this has cleared it for you.
Fred
