Hey All,
I am a registered user of Yo Window running version 2 on windows XP. I love Yo Window! Have not had any issues since installing it a few months back. However, when I changed my anti-virus program from Avira to Avast 5 I have had yo window freeze up on me a couple of times. I just get the black initialization screen reading "yowindow". Mouse clicks or keyboard will not allow me to exit the program. Any ideas? I will keep an eye on things and try a reinstall of Yo Window to see if that fixes the issue. Are there any known issues or conflicts with Avast 5?
Thanks in advance,
Doug
Yo Window Freezing at start up Splash Screen
Re: Yo Window Freezing at start up Splash Screen
Hi Doug,
I have no experience with Avast, don't know it.
Just to find out if there's a conflict, I was wondering what happens when you disable Avast.
Does YoWindow function again the way you were used it to function?
Goodluck,
Fred
Edit: Did you check the Avast's website?
Maybe there's a workaround for these kind of issues, assuming it's an Avast's conflict of course.

Hi Doug,
I had a look at the German forum of Avast and found there are lot of problems/conflicts with other programms. I have no experience and I don't like to install it to have a look for options in this antivire. Perhaps it could be also a conflict with your firewall now. But it is easy to try out were the problem is: deactivate Avast and see what will be happen...
You wrote, you are yousing Yowin version 2 ... this say nothing! Please install the latest RC (its 432 actually) and try again.
I'm using Avira 10 premium without any problems.

Perhaps Avast is a slow starter and doesn't allow for any program to open fully untill the anti-virus engine is fully loaded...
Try putting the yowindow install directory in Avast's exception list...
I'm on Windows7 and use AVG internet security 2011 with no issues...so far...

I have been using avast! for a long time and have never encountered any issues between it and YoWindow.

[UPDATE] I just updated avast! to version 5.1.864 and it caused some problems (slow boot-up, some programs loading slowly), and I fixed it by running the uninstaller and choosing the repair option. You might want to give that a try and see if it helps.
