1.11.6 Release Candidate. Season override.

Post by par »

This is a Release Candidate build. We are going to release it on Google Play unless a major flaw found.

What's new?

- BETA: Override current season for a location.
Open locations list, tap (i) button.
See a new option at the bottom of the page.
- FIXED: New year decorations are missing in some Village seasons.
- FIXED: Snowman is lit wrong.

Hi Pasha,

2.3.6 Samsung Prevail
4.0.4 Kyocera Hydro
4.0.4 Kyocera Rise
4.1.1 NextBook
4.1.2 Lenovo
4.4.2 ASUS MeMO pad
all ran with no crashes.

Village Holiday lights are working.
Snowman is okay now.
The season override works good.

:good:

Hi Pasha,

Last week we were testing the new inspector panel colors and opacity for you.
I just found an issue with a landscape opacity.

The highway leading from the city to the airport has car traffic with white headlights and red tail lights.
The car lights can be seen in iOS and in Windows.
They are very hard to see in Android.

I also tried this on a location that had a clear sky.
Car lights were still difficult to see on Android.

:(

Hi Pasha,

I've tested this build on Android 5.0 / Samsung Galaxy S5.
Notes:
  • Season override works fine, except it's not available for Current Location (which may be as designed).
  • I confirm Marty's issue about the highway car lights.
  • Also, aren't airport cars (planes, too) supposed to have headlight at nighttime?
  • Town: the star on the Christmas tree is notably brighter than the garland. I recommend to adjust both a little bit.
  • Wallpaper: with animation disabled, all lamps on the garlands are on, which seems too much. It would look more realistic if the amount of lighting is comparable to what one may see at every single moment during the animation. In other words, reduce the amount of lamps by 2-3 times, when animation is turned off.
  • The RAM usage seems somewhat high. I checked it with the 'Active applications' widget. The lowest I've seen is 197MB, the highest is 372Mb.

Max, glad to see you back on the forum!

Just overlooked.

They should. But this task is left undone because of the low priority for a very long time (
Town: the star on the Christmas tree is notably brighter than the garland. I recommend to adjust both a little bit.
I do agree. I'm struggling to find the right balance.
Wallpaper: with animation disabled, all lamps on the garlands are on
I overlooked this.
There are a number of similar defects in the static (no animation) mode.
This must be fixed.
Thank you!

The RAM usage seems somewhat high. The lowest I've seen is 197MB, the highest is 372Mb.
I'm going to benchmark the memory usage.
Last time I did this the memory consumption was reasonable.
When YoWindow wallpaper is on and the app is running in the background the amount of memory required is almost twice as much.
The memory is consumed by the bitmaps - the graphics of YoWindow.

Thank you so much, your reports are always beautiful and welcome!
