Seasons

Post by phantom »

Would like to see the changes in seasons. When it first snow, the ground should show accumulated snow as it piles up. It started snowing in Minnesota, and the program went from bare ground to snow on the ground. Would like to see the snow accumulated on the ground. Summer went right to fall. Couldn't the program show the leaves starting to change, and than falling off. When spring arrives the plant should slowing start leafing out. If it already does this is cool, just a suggestion. As spring approaches, the program should simulator melting of the snow. I would love to see the changes of seasons. Rather from spring to summer, and fall to winter. Again I do have an imagination.
The water on the road should slower disappear when the sun is out. When it rains, it could show the rain running off the ground, and puddles foaming. The water never soaks into the ground over time, as the weather goes from wet to drier. Like to see more trees, and them blowing in the wind. By the way, if I use my own picture. Will this program, allow my trees to move in the wind, or will everything just be stationary. Will the flowers and plants in my own picture move with the wind, and will my own personal picture changes from season to season. Haven't put a personal picture in yet. Hope this program is able to do this.

No, only the transparent sky area is affected.

Oufff ! That should keep you busy for the next 50 years Par, trying to represent real life. Good luck !
Thanks for your infinite patience. :D :D

BTW could you represent global warming effects as well ??? (sorry couldn`t resist)

In Minnesota we got a 8 inches of snow, and the program showed brown ground the whole time. Now must of the snow has melted and ground is showing. Guess the ground will show snow on the ground when the calendar changes to winter. I only made this suggestion because when it snows. The program doesn't show snow on the ground until winter official starts. The snow never accumulates as it snows. Which is really funny.
Yes, my suggestion is simply. From winter to spring the plants can leaf out. From summer to fall the leafs can change color and fall off. Don't think you need a super computer for this simply simulation. If you make it like the real world. Than you better use most powerful computer in the world. Which is located in China. By the way Paul Douglas uses personal computers to simulator weather. His software program does a very good job at it. So personal computers have gone a long way, I can handle the program the way it is. In fact, don't change a thing. Doesn't make a difference to me.

The WeatherNation from Paul Dougles shows only a small part of the world (North America) and the products cost a lot of money!
So both points are not comparable with Yowindow.

This will be the end of this subject for me. It's your program, and you can do what every you want. If this idea is too hard to do, than I understand. There no reason to debate this subject anymore. I do have an imagination, and will use it. - LOL

Dear Par,

Please forget unreasonable requests about snow thickness in the landscape... Indications on snow thickness in the meteo statistics: yes, but not required on the landscape: understand this is complicating the program unnecessarily.
On the other hand, a snowed landscape should receive other parameters: e.g. when snowing, and both min & max temp at 0°C or below. For subsequent days: when both min and max temps are below 1°C (remember: snow needs time to melt)
Otherwise: very nice work!

Is it not possible to integrate the NWS local metar stats into YoWindow?

http://www.nohrsc.nws.gov/nearest/index ... &m=12&d=15

This page provides the current snow depth for Newburgh NY along with other snowfall stats for various weather forecasting stations for Dec. 15 2010.

Thank you guys, we hope to improve snow detection algorithm in the future and to use NWS snow depth reports.
These tasks need time.
