Radar maps
Why are there no radar or satellite maps? A weather app without these is more of a toy than a serious application!

Re: Radar maps
I am afraid you have unfortunately not understand what YoWindow is.
YoWindow is no weather page in the traditional sense. There are thousands on the Internet. YoWindow is a unique representation of the weather on a computer, on a smart phone and personal websites.
Too bad that you write your opinion in this rude manner.

Re: Radar maps
I am sorry you took my comment as "rude". I like the graphical representation of the weather BUT it would be nice if that was combined with more useful tools like radar maps. Apparently someone at your company felt this was important since comments in January 2012 on your forum indicated you were considering the addition of these maps. I am sorry you chose not to add them. I just bought your program rather than keep the free version. I like supporting companies with good ideas. I actually consider your response to me a little "rude" as I am the customer. Is there a way I can get my money back?

You don't think this is impolite?A weather app without these is more of a toy than a serious application!
In my opinion as a moderator it is not a question if you are a "customer" or a free user (we made no difference between peoples). All of our user can post their questions, suggestions and so on. But one of our most important rules is to do this in a polite way.I actually consider your response to me a little "rude" as I am the customer. Is there a way I can get my money back?
When you bought this software, you did it like it was at this time. If you like to get your money back you had 30 days time to cancell your order! During this time, surely it should have been possible to decide.
But of course you can contact at any time directly to the support of YoWindow.

Re: Radar maps
I do not consider "toy" impolite at all. I use my computer to maintain websites, conduct business and to play games. It is "fun" to see Yowindow change as the weather, seasons and time of day change. The weather information it displays is useful. I believe it would be more useful if it could display a complete set of weather data including the maps which are the source of our disagreement.

Re: Radar maps
I hope both of you don't mind if i interfere in this communication.
YoWindow is mainly a one-man show (with great support from a handful of people).
It relies mainly on free weather-sources. Free in the sense that a commercial project like YoWindow is allowed to use them without paying for it (like METAR-data, and the great service of http://yr.no/ the norwegian meteorological service).
Althought i don't know how many licenses were sold in the past, but it's too few to pay for such basic data (yet). Surely too few to pay for radar maps or satellite maps for each area included in YoWindow. I know there are various free sources for radar-maps in the US but what about other countries? What about satellite-maps? For whole continents maybe, but is that what you/we want?
Regarding "money back": it's like Werner has said: you paid for it, you had a 30 day trial period which elapsed. That's it. Assuming you have bought the YoWindow license a while back for a previous version of the program you maybe you want to consider that you have got several updates without additional fees.
To come to an end i want to tell a fact that's often not known: the mods are not paid by YoWindow. We do what we do in your free time. (Sometimes i wonder why we do this for a commercial product but we do it

Re: Radar maps
What i have forgotten: there's the possibility in YoWindow to click on a menu-item which opens a website with a weather-map for the current location (http://openweathermap.org/):

Re: Radar maps
I have no problem with others entering the conversation as long as they do so with correct information. I did NOT order the program some time ago but within the last couple of days. I did this despite the fact that it lacked built-in weather maps because I like to support software developers especially small ones. I will not ask for a refund for this reason but will hope that more licenses are sold to promote further development.
Thanks for confirming that the "company" is small. It would help to know Werner's identity and your connection to the company.
Your suggestion about the weather map option is helpful. Thank you. The Norwegian weather service is interesting. It reminds me that Celsius is a much more logical sale than Fahrenheit.
Thanks again.

as i said the mods don't get paid by YoWindow. There's no other connection to the company than the one that we try to moderate the forum.
If someone want's to reveal his/her identy here on the forum he/she should do so. If not, not. It's completely up to the user.
So if you want to know Werner's identy just ask him.
But i wonder how that would help you.
I hope i didn't misunderstand you.

Re: Radar maps
I was just wondering if the actual developer was involved in this discussion at all. It would be nice to hear directly from the person responsible for this different and creative app. Since some improvements and additions have been mentioned over the last year, I wondered what might be in the works for a new version.
