A method to deploy settings?

Post by niagarasystems »

I came across your program accidentally and liked it so much, I've encouraged my employees to deploy it to every residential computer we sell as the default screensaver and it's pleased many new computer owners.

To reduce the number of clicks my system builders must process there's a number of options I'd like to be defaulted for every new installation, such as the location, forecast, move mouse and it disappears, etc. Are there any methods for me to deploy the settings that we want for every system so there's a lot less clicking involved by my employees?

Thanks in advance!

There's a file called options.xml

That file contains all the options of YoWindow. If you once make your desired settings and deploy the the options.xml after installing YoWindow on a computer to the right directory you should get what you want.

On Windows XP you find the file in the following directory:

C:\Documents and settings\[user-name]\application settings\YoWindow\

regarding the names of the directories: i don't know them exactly because my XP is a german one; but i think you will find the correct ones

If you have Win7 installed i'm sure someone running this will soon post for the respective directories.

C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Roaming\YoWindow

for Windows 7 (English)

Thanks for the response, that's exactly what I'm looking for!
