First let me state that I only recently discovered this software, and after a few days of use I am very impressed. I can think of only one possible improvement so far.
The wind direction option is a clever one, essentially reversing the direction of the wind to mimic the perspective of the window you're looking out. However, if I enable it so that I am looking out a north window, the wind is moving in the wrong direction relative to the sun. The sun should also reverse direction.
I am using the Mac version but assume this applies in general so I posted it here. If this would have been better posted in the Mac forum, please accept my apologies and move my post to the proper place.
Make the wind direction and sun direction align
Re: Make the wind direction and sun direction align
Hi,
Welcome to YoWindow.
The viewing direction only effects the (movement of) the wind.
This feature is meant for use on either the Southern or Northern Hemisphere.
When looking to the sun in the Southern Hemisphere you would have to look North and adapt the wind direction equally.
Are you talking of a location on the Southern Hemisphere?
Fred

Re: Make the wind direction and sun direction align
Hi Fred. Let me try to do a better job of explaining. By the way, I am talking about the Northern Hemisphere.
The YoWindow default window assumes a southern exposure, so that the left side is the east and the right side is the west. The sun moves from left to right on the screen. If the wind is out of the east (left side), things blow from left to right.
Now if I change the wind direction saying that I am looking out a north window, the easterly wind blows the clouds from right to left. However the sun still moves as if I am looking out a southern window -- from left to right.
Hope this is more understandable. I think it would be better if EVERYTHING in the window reflected the direction you are looking at. If the wind is going to flip directions, then the sun should, too.

Re: Make the wind direction and sun direction align
Hi,
Thanks for clarifying.
The point is in the Northern Hemisphere the sun is visible in the south (average).
Therefor YoWindow is programmed to look at the south.
If you would look to the north, you wouldn't see the sun.
Since YoWindow is programmed to be both simple and fun, they decided you will always see the sun (provided it's not to cloudy), even when looking at the north!!!!!
So, if you choose to look at the north, it no longer matches reality, since the sun still will be displayed. Only now it will move the 'wrong way'.
Looking at the north really is meant for the Southern Hemisphere.
I hope I've explained it more clearly.
Nevertheless, I will ask Pasha (the developer) if this could be changed:
Pasha, could you please respond on this?
Thanks in advance.
Fred

Re: Make the wind direction and sun direction align
Thanks, Fred. I understand your point. I suppose I should have thought of that myself.
Since I have a northern exposure where I sit when on my computer, I liked the idea of flipping everything around. But you're right, most of the time I'm not actually seeing the sun -- I have a mental image of where it is in the sky. (Although I live so far south in the United States that during the weeks of the year with the most daylight, the sun shines through my north-facing window for a few hours in the morning.) I would definitely use the option if you made it available, along with flipping the wind direction.
