YoWindow is trendy

Post by par »

This is a fresh Google Chrome browser plugin by Weather Bug (thanks, Mahav, for letting me know).
https://chrome.google.com/webstore/deta ... kkdpfpaaak

Over the last years we have put so much work and love in YoWindow that the project has become very personal.
I assure you I'm NOT going to let YoWindow down under the pressure from big guys.
I will evolve and support YoWindow as long as I can.
And I hope you guys will help me.

To let you know the news from the kitchen.
We are working on YoWindow plugin for 3 major browsers.
It will be available by the end of March, hopefully.
We have managed to design a very good plugin, so expect a surprise :)

Also the work on IPhone/IPad and Android editions is in progress.

And, of course, expect the new animated landscapes, hopefully soon.

Hi Pasha and Yuri

Of course you go on and obviously we continue to help.
Be careful not to be taken over by the big boys.

I have the yowindow flash 1 second working on my HTC HD2. (windows mobile 6.5)
Then I get the error "not enough memory".

I hope that except IPhone/IPad and Android editions also "window mobile" is in progress
Otherwise I have to buy another phone. :D

Pasha and Yuri keep going on

gr.

Hi Pasha and Yuri,

Since YoWindow is the Original, I would say that Weather Bug has become Trendy. There is a saying that imitation is the best form of flattery. YoWindow has gotten a big compliment from Weather Bug.

I loaded Weather Window down to my Win7. It works good, but not as good as YoWindow. I tried Mount Washington, New Hampshire. YoWindow uses the Metar station at the top of the mountain where the high winds are. Weather Window gets its information from a resort near the base of the mountain where the winds are minimal.

Their animation is good but cannot compare to what the two of you have done. What the two of you have done is just fantastic.

Keep up the excellent work. ;)

Herman, thanks a lot, I wish I made a Windows Mobile edition solely for you to thank you for all the landscapes you have made for the project.
To be honest this is a gigantic work.
If we to start Windows Mobile edition it will stop main YoWindow development (as far as I can predict) at least for half a year.
That is why we had to abandon the idea of WM edition.

Dear Marty, thank you :)

I don't know how possible this is, but take a second thought to take this guys to courts. I don't know much of programming, so i cannot tell if they copied the basics of YoWindow program, but one way or another they have copied the idea. And i think they are just testing it, as a chrome extension b4 they go to desktop version. I have understood for some years know how Pasha is dealing with his project and how emotionally attached he is to it. But my opinion is not to let those (weather)bugs take over his work.
I just wrote the following review in (weather)bug's extension page

Taking advantage of other's work and ideas, isn't my favorite! It's been some years now that YoWindow, is online (yowindow.com) and far more better and smooth than this project. For my point of wiew, weather bug has just copied YoWindow's idea and that's inappropriate and unacceptable method. You have to to respect other's work and try to create something new by yourself, instead of just copying.
Weather Window by WeatherBug? No thank you, i will stick with the original
