Wrong weather for Esperance, Western Australia

Post by slowhand »

Hi, you have just installed this new location for me, it is my home location............it is very inaccurate, it says it is 32 degrees and clear yet it is actually 20 degrees and raining.
Can this be corrected...??
I also use Weatherzone and they have it correct.................

I'll have a look at it: Esperance is using the Metar-Station YPKG in YoWindow which is located in Kalgoorlie-Boulder, which is ~380km away.
So for me it's no surprise that the weather is very inaccurate.

I search for an airport near Esperance.

Found it at: ahhh, Esperance has its own airport: Esperance airport, with the ICAO-code YESP (according to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Esperance_Airport)

Pavel, please can you change the METAR-code for Esperance, Australia from YPKG to YESP?

I'm not sure; i've addressed Pavel and hope he is reading my post. Maybe you can add a reply to your location request and add a link to this thread there so we make sure that it doesn't get lost?

YESP does not provide weather, sorry :-(

http://en.allmetsat.com/metar-taf/austr ... ?icao=YESP
Get YoWindow weather app for your phone or tablet.

If Weatherzone is using information from the Metar-station then they use another service to read this info.

As far as i know YoWindow is using the site http://en.allmetsat.com/ and if http://en.allmetsat.com/metar-taf/austr ... ?icao=YESP doesn't exist then there will be no weather for this metar-station.

Edit: on the site of Weatherzone you can read at the very bottom that "Information supplied by Weatherzone based on data from the Bureau of Meteorology". So they don't use Metar for current conditions

The producers of this product. Need to check the Weatherzone, and Weather1 program, and incorporate some parts of their program into YoWindow. By doing so we will have the right information. On sun/rise, moon rise/set, extended forecast will be right, and the issue of predicted high/low temperature will be corrected. I still state, that YoWindows isn't receiving all the information correctly. From some mater stations, since these above issues are not being displayed correctly. Works on Weather1,Weatherzone and should work on YoWindows.

Then the question must be asked, can YoWindow access weather information from other sources besides Metar stations. I surely am not the only one unable to get true weather data for their home town ?.
