YoWindow Forecast differs from NWS

Post by mdwx »

Hello,

In my YoWindow, the forecast is showing cloudy for Saturday, yet if I click on the "NWS" link it shows the correct forecast of Rain/Snow likely.

Is there a reason that the forecast that YoWindow is showing is different? I tried searching here first before posting, I hope I didn't overlook the issue.

Thanks!

Hi mdwx,

The weather shown in the forecast panel is for 3:00.

I read your entire forecast for Saturday using NWS. Saturday day - Rain and snow likely. Cloudy with high near 41. 60% chance of precipitaion. Saturday night - mostly cloudy with a low of 30. I also looked at the hour by hour graph which shows a chance of precipitation, but shows that it will be cloudy.

I agree with you as there is a chance of snow or rain.

Hi Pasha,

I checked out Southgate, Maryland USA with NWS and Yr.No.

Southgate, Maryland USA is 4369964 and KBWI.

Yr.No shows rain on Saturday until 6:00 PM and then shows cloudy. NWS hour by hour graph is showing Saturday as cloudy all day with a 60% chance of precipitation until 5:00 PM or 6:00 PM.

YoWindow Yr.No time line is showing rain followed by clouds. YoWindow NWS time line is showing cloudy conditions only.

I hope this helps you out.

Forecast of YoWindow is done my the NRK, the norwegian meteorological service and the NWS is the National-Weather-Service, located in the United States.
Its unlikely that the models with which they calculate the forecast are the same, so a different forecast can and will happen.

How do you know? You will have to wait till the day of the forecast and compare. ;)

Well, correct as in what the NWS is actually forecasting :D

I just figured that they should match, since it says right below it that the forecast is from the NWS.

Hi. I have been enjoying your widget for about a month now but I have a problem with it, today. As it is posted on my blog, it shows that the weather forecast is originating from the NWS. I am in the US and that would be the correct source to get my weather from.

However, when I click on the widget and go "full screen", the widget shows that the weather information is originating from Norway or someplace. That is not what should be showing there and I have only "live" weather stats on full screen right now. I don't have stats for tonight, tomorrow or the day after that.

Granted, I am using the free widget on my blog, but up until today, my widget was showing all of the above-listed information for three days into the future. When I click on the tonight, tomorrow, etc. tabs, I get a landscape screen that includes the message "no weather."

Can you fix this?
