Snow not displaying
Snow not displaying
I just wanted to report that there is a warm spell in S.E. New York state. It's 55°F with at least 6 inches of snow on the ground from the last blizzard yet yowindow displays a naked landscape. Doesn't look like it will be all melted anytime soon either. Just bringing it to your attention.

Re: Snow not displaying
Would you mind telling us the location so we can check the season-maps?

Re: Snow not displaying
According to http://yowindow.com/help.html#season_algorithm it does exactly what it should.
When the temperature is more or equal to +5°C (41°F), YoWindow thinks that all the snow has melted and displays naked season instead of winter.
Re: Snow not displaying
That's why I'm reporting it. Because I think it's a bug and the program needs to be tweaked. After all, the main function of this app is to show what is happening outside your window hence the name YoWindow. Don't you agree?
Re: Snow not displaying
Well, this has been discussed several times.
Most recently under http://site2.yowindow.com/forum/viewtop ... 25&start=0
All I can say is, this is how it works.
It's not so easy to change this algorithm, but if the guys from YoWindows see any options to do so I'm sure they will.

Re: Snow not displaying
I know, I read some of the threads and even commented in one of them. I just thought I would report it in the bugs forum so the developers are more aware of it. Sorry if a similar situation has already been posted here.

Ahh, OK, Sorry,
I thought you were asking for an explanation.

Re: Snow not displaying
No, I made my post pretty clear. By the way, there's still around 3 to 4 inches of snow on the ground from a 15 to 20 inch blizzard we had in this area and it's still 46°F here so still a naked landscape at 6:38 PM EST.

YoWindow don't have a webcam behind every YoWindow-users-window at home so it has to use some algorithm and data delivered by external stations like airports (metar-stations) and other meteorological services (like http://yr.no).
Or do you expect Coca-Cola to have cocain as one of its ingredients?
