confused between PWS and local METAR station

Post by steve03222 »

YoWindow seems confused between PWS and local METAR station.
My closest METAR station is reporting snow, my pws is reporting rain.
Yo window displays snow, but shows rain on the screen.

"displays snow, but shows rain on the screen"

Ahhh, I don't understand.

What is the weather station?
The next time you see the problem can you copy yowindow.xml and send it to the forum?
Get YoWindow weather app for your phone or tablet.

Yup, that was interesting, we were right on the edge of the rain/snow line.
The airport just North of here, was reporting snow.
I was reporting rain through my PWS.
The YoWindow display was showing the rain that i was reporting, yet on th eright side under the temperature it stated "snow"
Guess I should have captured a screen shot.
I will try to remember to copy that file and post it.

Steve,

In looking at your xml, WUHU is giving you a rain rate of .02 which is why you are seeing rain. Could be snow melt?

No it was actually raining, my concern is that in YoWindow it displays Light Snow under the sky cover.

It seems I know why is this happening.
There are no sky/description and sky/icon tags in yowindow.xml produced by WUHU.
That is there are no information about sky coverage.

YoWindow is trying to guess the sky cover from the data provided by the closest METAR station.
And it looks like in your case METAR says it is snowing.
Very rare case, but I think we need to adjust YoWindow in order to handle this case gracefully.
I have added a task.
Get YoWindow weather app for your phone or tablet.
