Cities/Locations are Lost on Upgrade

Post by cwalters64 »

After each upgrade, I have to rebuild my locations/cities list.
I just upgraded to YW4 B27.
I have been an Unlimited Edition user for quite a while.
I am running Windows 8.1 Pro 64bit on an HP desktop.
Is there a file location or registry entry I need to backup before I update?
Please advise.

Hi!
Do you uninstall YoWindow before the upgrade?
If you install the new build over the old one, we expect the locations list to be kept intact.

YoWindow settings are kept in options.xml file that you should find at the following locations.

-Vista or Windows 7
C:\Users\[your user name]\AppData\Roaming\YoWindow
-XP
C:\Documents and Settings\[your user name]\Application Data\YoWindow

Replace [your user name] with your Windows login (user) name
Get YoWindow weather app for your phone or tablet.

Thanks for the info. I will be sure to backup the file you mentioned.
In answer to your question, I have always run the upgrade with the existing install intact and the locations are replaced with the default (Los Angels, New York, etc).
Please look into this, I should not have to backup the file.

Hi Chuck,

Can I ask you the following:
Did you install the original program with administrator rights and/or as administrator?
Do you update as administrator or with administrator rights?

Thank you in advance,
Fred
