I'm thinking of getting a personal weather station for my house and would like to use it with YoWindow.
I never had a weather station before so these questions may be pretty basic to all you weather station pros out there.
Are all weather stations compatible with YoWindow?
If it rains will YoWindow show it's raining?
If it snows will YoWindow show it's snowing?
In other words, when I look out my window will YoWindow display what I am seeing out my window?
Any suggestions on the the type of station to buy accomplish the above things?
Thanks..

Re: Weather Station Options
Welcome to the YoWindow Forum
Most weather stations will be able to provide the weather information necessary for YoWindow, but you'll also need software to convert that data into the yowindow.xml file that YoWindow reads in order to display the weather. If you'll take a look through the PWS (Personal Weather Station) part of this forum you'll see how that has been done for some of the more popular software packages. You may also want to take a look at http://yowindow.com/pws.php to get a better feel.
You can learn a lot about the various station hardware options by searching through http://www.weather-watch.com/smf/index.php and/or http://www.wxforum.net/index.php because that's a very common question and you'll find a lot of good information there. I'm partial to Davis weather stations, but there are lower priced options out there too.
YoWindow showing the rain is no problem but snow is more difficult. That would require a special sensor to be added and of course the software would have to support that sensor.
Good Luck. - Jim
