Light out of YoWindow

Post by remarknl »

Hi,

I have several rgb lights in my room which i can control with my computer. My computer wakes from sleep in the morning, logges in, starts playing some nice music, tells my rgb lights to turn on slowly and starts YoWindow in full screen mode. Eventually i will wake up and open my eyes, but the rgb lights don't give a nice color So i would like to give my rgb lights the color of the air in YoWindow. Is it possible to get such data out of YoWindow? can it dump an xml file with "processed" weather data?

My lamps get their data and commands via a serial connection over usb. An AIR app running on my computer sends color and pattern(The lamps are programmed to emulate fire, sunrise and even underwater effects)
Just to make it clear: My rgb lamps are physical lamps across my room which can display almost any color and pattern i want.

lamps are not the only application for color weather data from YoWindow. How cool would it be if your site adapts its background color to the weather!!

That sounds fantastic! :)
I wish I could see it!

Have you made this lamp system yourself?
Is this a consumer product?
Can we buy such a lamp system?

I have scheduled a task to export YoWindow daylight to an XML file.

And it is very flattering to know you use YoWindow to wake up.
Feeling happy :)
Get YoWindow weather app for your phone or tablet.

I asked remarknl similar questions and here's what he replied:

There are off the shelf solutions. My parents have bought a philips living colours lamp. http://www.lighting.philips.com/microsi ... ng_colors/
I also found this: http://www.alibaba.com/product-free/113 ... _Lamp.html Ugly thing though

I made my lamps with an arduino controller board. http://www.arduino.cc Some transistors, Some rgb leds, and a couple of resistors.

I dont know how DIY you are but there are quite some options out there!

I've made a google-seach for "RGB-lamps" - there are plenty of them out there. On youtube you can find some beautiful videos about those lamps.

my feeling about a rgb-lamp: "Wanna have!" :D
