Win 7 and Updating

Post by garycgreen »

I just put YoWindow on a new Win7 laptop, everything seems fine but the statistics do not seem to be regularly updating. I've left it alone for 11 or 12 hours, when I point at the taskbar it shows the last update as 11, 12 hours before, but as soon as I open it, it then updates. This behavior is different than the two installs I have on XP machines.

Any ideas?

I don't think it is a Win 7 specific problem.
It looks like your computer has been disconnected from the internet for some time.
That made YoWindow think there is no connection and it has stopped weather updating process.
Anyway there is probably an error inside YoWindow.
I will take a look at this case.
Thank you for reporting!

Since my original post, I can now see that it is related to my putting the laptop to sleep/standby...After I wake it up and dock it at work or connect wirelessly at home, it apparently doesn't realize that the internet connection has been reestablished. No big deal, thanks for a great app!

I am having the same issue with both of my laptops, both at home and at work, neither one will auto update as they used to do. I have to click on the icon in the taskbar and manually update.I noticed this started last week with no changes made to either computer (other than Windows updates - could one of those be the problem?). But both of these computers have a consistent connection to the Internet (I'm constantly on the Internet) with no sleep/hibernation/screen savers kicking in so that is not the case here. It's not that big of a deal but I forget sometimes when I glance down at the temperature on the taskbar that it's not correct and have to update it. Just curious why it stopped updating.
