I live in Monterey, CA and the closest city is Salinas, CA, but the two areas have very different weather. Also, it would be great if it would be possible to make this your desktop background

Go the Board Index of this forum and look for the "Add Location" thread and it will tell you how to add other cities. The authors are very happy to do this for us and are quite responsive. The desktop background idea has been mentioned before, but there are technical issues that may make this impossible. Maybe do a search for "background" and see what has been said.
