Yes, this is where Pat Porter, the former Olympian, died 2 days ago in a plane crash. My dog and I had just gotten back from a hike up airport mesa. We hiked down the back way on a trail that borders the same ravine where all passengers perished. I missed witnessing the accident by about an hour. We had just gotten back into the city limits when I saw the smoke and knew something was wrong. Pat, his son Connor, and a friend of Connor's were killed in the crash. My deepest sympathies go out to Trish and Shannon, Pat's wife and daughter. The Porter's are an extraordinary family of successful athletes. Although I have never met them, they will live forever in my heart and my prayers. Be looking for Shannon Porter in the future as an ice skater.
