Hello... Thank's a lot for this amazing tool. As a private pilot, I use TAF currently... and the "translation" of them by YoWindow is great
Just a word... about forecast...
YoWindow use METAR to determine "Current Weather". But for forecast, the internet site describe two governemental sources but not TAF (aeronautical forecast). All the weather stations don't provide it but it could be a good way to improve actual forecast.
Also, reading the NOAA GRIB2 files could be usefull too. Many data are available. I use for that a free app named Zygrib. Very nice. Data are displayed on a map... But YoWindow can use the location coordonates to extract many meteorological informations.
And here are some more few ideas...... as I've a dream. http://he1.yowindow.com/forum/images/sm ... santry.gif
May be you can add ont the right side informations like :
- the Cloud Base Height upon Temperature and Dewpoint and azimuth,
- Sun and moon ephemeris including elevations and azimuth... and true time of the real midday (equation of time)
- as an option the possibility to read the closests raw TAF & METAR for the selected location
- and a notion about the level of night (very dark, dark...etc) from the moon phase and % and from the moon rise and set
Best regards and thank's from a french private pilot http://he1.yowindow.com/forum/images/smilies/dirol.gif

Re: Forecast improvement and few ideas
Dear Gribouille,
I have to admit that YoWindow does not consume TAF on input, it receives the weather forecast provided by NWS or yr.no services.
Hopefully someday in the future we will add more weather sources.
The whole idea of YoWindow is to create a fun and attractive program that shows weather like never before.
If you look through Suggestions forum you will find a lot of ideas that our users want us to implement.
But unfortunately we are a very small project at the moment with 2 people behind the scenes.
We have to give priorities to the suggestions.
Now our primary goals are mobile edition of YoWindow, new landscapes and new visual effects most users are waiting for.
More features will be added after we are done with our primary goals.
Of course, I wish YoWindow to provide as much information as possible that would help most people to track the weather.
However we tend to choose to display only the information that is interesting to most people and weather related.
Too much information will make YoWindow complicated to use for most people.
For a complete weather solution I would recommend to install Weather Display.
