A suggestion for possible future implementation… It would be nice if alternate forecast sources could be selected. Yr.no and the ECMWF models don’t do a particularly great job of forecasting in the United States, especially in the nearer time periods. If there was a way to specify National Weather Service or perhaps some other source, that would be great and help forecast accuracy for those in the U.S.
Thank you for your consideration!
Tony

Re: Alternate forecast sources
Thanks, Tony!
I have had doubts about NWS forecasts support since yr.no takes the forecasts from different weather sources around the world. And I was thinking it also fetches the weather from NWS.
Now you and Jim have noticed the problems with US forecast.
And that's a signal.
The feature is quite complex and will take a week of my time approximately.
I'm going to implement NWS forecasts soon unless someone prove that yr.no forecasts are as good as NWS ones.

Re: Alternate forecast sources
Hi
Is it possible in the future to have the forecast from WXSIM?
Thanks

Re: Alternate forecast sources
Probably - yes, but you have to wait.
Re: Alternate forecast sources
Indeed, Pasha, that would be a great idea and an expansion of YoWindow.tonyva wrote:Is it possible in the future to have the forecast from WXSIM?
WXSIM produces many files but only one of those files need to be used, a small (about 3.5K) text file containing the forecast.
I have been using WXSIM (an interactive local atmospheric modeling software) for almost a year and the forecast it has produced have been more accurate than those produced by Environment Canada (a department of the canadian government) with their overly expensive computers...

Re: Alternate forecast sources
Ray, if everything will go as I expect, you may even help us to create the converter between WXSIM and YoWindow internal forecast format.
But this time is not come yet.

Re: Alternate forecast sources
Pasha, you do not need a converter between WXSIM and YoWindow - one of the files produced by WXSIM is a text file which contains the forecast for that period, such as forecast for today, and includes information such as:
- Today: Cloudy in the morning, becoming partly to mostly cloudy in the
afternoon. Patchy light fog in the morning. A slight chance of rain. High 8.
Wind west-northwest around 7 kph. Chance of precipitation less than 20 percent.
Precipitation mostly less than 2 mm.

The 'yr.no' are not as good as the NWS forecasts...par wrote:I'm going to implement NWS forecasts soon unless someone prove that yr.no forecasts are as good as NWS ones.
Maybe, in the futur, you could also add/include the Environment Canada forecasts...
