Bad forecast of yr.no

Post by Mallorca »

Hi Pasha,
since the last 2 to 3 months the forecast of yr.no is very bad :(
The temperature is always 4-6 °C too low in contrary to other forecasts and the actual weather.

So the visitors of my weathersite (and me also) are more and more irritated about this datas
This situation is dissatisfying!

Any idea what is going on with yr.no?

Perhaps austerity measures to keep Spain from going bankrupt...

I've seen the same happen to Greek locations...

Let's see: yr.no has a temperature of 22 degrees for saturday at 3 p.m.

The forecast below has a temperature of about 26 degrees (the middle between 25 and 27 degrees) for noon and for the evening (i suppose 6 p.m.) a temperature of about 20 degrees (the middle between 18 and 22 degrees). If i interpolate the temperature to get it for 3 p.m. i will get about 23 degrees.

So: yr.no = 22 degrees and the other site 23 degrees - the difference isn't that much (in this special case; maybe the gap between forecasted temperatures for other locations is bigger).

But of course maybe i have some mistakes in the calculation. If so please tell!

Hey, Werner!
I can only help if YoWindow is working wrong, but I have no power over yr.no forecast data.
To find out if the forecast error is on YoWindow side it is better to compare yr.no original data (click on yr.no link inside YoWindow and it directs you to the location page)

As far as I know yr.no aggregates weather forecast data provided by other weather agencies all around the world.

You can ask yr.no support team, they are very responsive.

This is the contact form
http://om.yr.no/sporsmal/kontakt-yr-no/

The form is in Norwegian, but support team communicates in English.
Get YoWindow weather app for your phone or tablet.

Hi friends,
I checked today other days, locations and other weathersites and noticed the same difference in forecasts.

Reinhart, thanks for your "calculation", but as you can see here over the course of the day we have the distinctions.

It is also funny, that the daily hight is mostly in the time between 17 and 23.00.

I checked it f.e. for Vienna ... the same ...

To bring us an answer I contacted yo.no.
