Hi Pasha,
I noticed this bug after upgrading both Flash player and YoWindow today. As I didn't recall seeing it before, I wondered which of the two upgrades caused it. Having uninstalled YoWindow build 496 and installed the build I had before (466), I saw this problem in the old build too. So, it's a new flash player that is causing this.
I'm running Windows 7, Adobe Flash Player 10 Plugin 10.3.183.5.
The stripes move along with the clouds (due to wind) and most of them blink, from once in a few seconds to a few times per second.
Only visible on dark clouds, i.e. in the night or twilight.
The defect is not repeatable when it rains in YoWindow.

Hi Max,
do you read this post? http://yowindow.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=29&t=3434
Like you I'm running Windows 7/64 bit and Adobe Flash Player 10 Plugin 10.3.183.5 with RC 496 without problems/stripes.
You know that Yowindow needs a lot of resources. Perhaps your CPU is overloaded? What are your monitor dimensions?
I'm using an 24" with 1920 x 1080.
Werner

Re: Cloud rendering bug (dark stripes) with a new Flash play
Hey, Max, glad to see you on the forum again!
Yes, I am aware about this defect.
I do see it in my YoWindow.
As far as I remember I have noticed it 3 - 4 months ago.
I did not bother because I was thinking Adobe will fix it.
But it looks like this rendering problem is going to stay.
Probably we can solve it on our side.
I need time to investigate and hopefully fix.
Thanks for taking care!
PS
When it rains the cumulus clouds don't move.

It looks like the problem is Video Adapter related since Werner does not see it.

Aha... So the new Flash player is not the cause, as I incorrectly concluded. It's quite possible that the bug is repeatable with older versions of Flash player, and I just haven't noticed it earlier.par wrote:As far as I remember I have noticed it 3 - 4 months ago.
True! I didn't notice this... Which sort of confirms you've made the right design choice (I presume, to save computer resources). Chances are that people will not pay attention to the cloud movement when it rains, like I didn'tpar wrote:When it rains the cumulus clouds don't move.

Werner - yes, I saw that post before reporting this bug.Mallorca wrote:do you read this post? http://yowindow.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=29&t=3434

Re CPU resources, I've tested it now with various window sizes, by watching the Windows Task Manager on the background. The bigger the window, the more it loads CPU when on foreground. But the rendering defect is consistently reproduced even with a small window, when yowindow.exe consumes 10-20% CPU and the overall CPU load does not exceed 30%. Which tells me it's not really related to the CPU load.
FWIW, I'm using a laptop 15.6" monitor with 1366 x 768.
Yeah, it sounds credible. When I get a chance, I'll check how it looks like on another computer.par wrote:It looks like the problem is Video Adapter related since Werner does not see it.
This is my video adapter: Mobile Intel(R) 4 Series Express Chipset Family, Mobile Intel(R) GMA 4500M. Drivers are up to date.
