Time is wrong

Post by Neron »

Hi,

I installed YoWindow on a Pentium 4 PC with Windows 7 - 32 Bit. I live in Bolivia (Santa Cruz) and I put this location as the "Home Location" but the time is displayed wrong - exactly 2 hours are added to the real time. I checked the following things like described in the FAQ and the time in the PC BIOS is correct. Please check the attached JPG image:
Screenshot of the time settings and YoWindow

1. Windows time is 10:05
2. Time Zone is correct --> UTC-07:00 (For La Paz and Santa Cruz)
3. Daylight saving is enabled.
4. The Windows time in the tray is also 10:05
5. The time in YoWindow is 12:05 (two hours more)

If I change the location to an other place (like Zurich, Switzerland) the 2-hour time problem is the same. So I think that has nothing to do with a specific location.

I use the YoWindow version 2.0 b459 (free edition) - Downloaded today.

Does anyone has an idea how to correct this problem ?

If you need anymore information about the PC or else I will provide it.

Thanks a lot for your help !

Hi Neron,

There was something similar some time ago on a windows vista pc.
It was solved by rebooting the pc.

Have you tried that?

Hi Neron,
do you have daylight saving time in Bolivia? If not, you have to disable this feature.
As Fred wrote, after changing time it is necessary to reboot your system.

Hi and thanks a lot for your comment!

I got the problem now. I synchronized the Windows time with a timeserver (over the time settings panel) and saw that the synchronized time was 2 hours different. So I went to check the time zone for La Paz (Bolivia) via Google and found it on http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/. There I found that the timezone for La Paz (Bolivia) is really UTC-04:00 hours and not UTC-07:00 like on my PC. Then I went to the timezone settings and there are two "La Paz" in the timezone list like you can see on the following image:
Two timezones with "La Paz"...

I had to learn from Wikipedia that there are various "La Paz" but one is in Bolivia and another in Mexico :fool:

So the problem is solved, I only had to select the right one from the timezone list.

I'm sorry about that and thanks a lot to all people who helped me! :good:

PS:

@FvE: Yes I rebooted a lot of times but that did not help because I had selected the wrong "La Paz" timezone. But thanks anyway for your help!

@Mallorca: Yes you are right, Bolivia does not have daylight saving time. Thanks anyway for your help!
