Desktop-version - problems?

Post by ikarus1969 »

Hi Pavel!

This morning i have problems with the desktop-version (build 220) which worked fine yesterday.

When desktop-version is startet it says "Please wait" on a black background and that's it for minutes. I then cancelled YoWindow with taskmanager.

Website-version is ok (i have 2 YoWindows on my local website, both ok).

Are there any known issues with the desktop-version currently?

Maybe another user faces the same problem?

Edit: starting YoWindow in Debug-mode gives me the following flash-message:
debug-mode - flash not responding-message

Hi, Reinhart!

That's major.

We need to find out what's going on.

Can you repeat this problem?

Please send me all the files under C:\Users\[user name]\AppData\Roaming\YoWindow\
log.txt
options.xml
weatherCache.xml
worldCache.xml
Get YoWindow weather app for your phone or tablet.

Hi Pasha: yes i can repeat the problem. I have sent you the requested files (but they are from 7:45 am today?!). The last try (debug-mode) didn't change those files.

Hi Chucky!
thank you for trying to help me. It's a good hint, but i run the latest version of Flash-player:

Hmmm, strange.

I should have tried that before: i uninstalled YoWindow then re-installed it again (RC Build 220) and guess what? ... now it works! :D

So that helped; but of course i had to make all settings again (except registration).

The question remains what had caused the error? Maybe Pavel can find out.

One of the most used error-resolving method:
uninstall - reinstall
stop-start
...

The file size of weatherCache.xml is much smaller now after re-installation:

Before uninstallation 96,2 MB (!):
Huge weatherCache.xml
Huge weatherCache.xml

After re-installation 21,6 KB:
normal-sized weatherCache.xml
normal-sized weatherCache.xml
YoWindow - 2009-12-23 - error - weather-cache small.jpg (40.96 KiB) Viewed 9938 times

So maybe Flash can't handle such big files?

Hi guys,

I cannot be of any help, sorry about that.
I am wondering though if this could (also) be a problem in Windows itself.
I am using Win-XP and you Ikarus, obviously are not.
What are you using?

Finally I have made screenshot of my files too and you can see that my weatherCache isn't big either.

Maybe this can be of any help after all.
Good luck.

Oh I'm sorry,

It's just that your screenshots and the path Pavel discribed:
par wrote:Please send me all the files under C:\Users\[user name]\AppData\Roaming\YoWindow\
log.txt
options.xml
weatherCache.xml
worldCache.xml
don't look familiair to me (Win-XP) at all.
So I assumed you used another Win-version.
I don't have the described path.
I found my files under: C:\Documents and Settings\[user name]\Application Data\YoWindow

Sorry Ikarus, we can't blame Windows then :?

O i don't kow who is to blame :?:

I played around with locations really often: added locations, removed them, watched the forecast, renamed locations, added more locations so i had to scroll down, added even more locations, removed some, and so on ...

"weatherCache": maybe the current conditions and the forecast is cashed for each location ever added to YoWindow but is not removed when removing the location itself from the location-list?
But more than 90MB? Hmmmm....

Whatever: Prettige Kerstdagen en een Gelukkig Nieuwjaar!
