My husband (who does not "do" computers) reported to me one night that my screen was flashing and rain was coming down. He also is quite convinced he saw a windmill back where the tree is located.
So how about a windmill? It would get lots of action here in Kansas, USA, where the wind blows and blows.

A windmill could be used to indicate not only the windspeed but also the winddirection...
