Using your great program. I have a suggestion or maybe it might be a bug. Last night we had our first thunderstorm of the season and your program was 'flashing' the entire screen white, indicating a thunderstorm. I think it would be better just to show streaks of lightning on the background. The flashing of the entire screen white can be real annoying in a darken room.

Just throwing my 2 cents in, this would be a very nice enhancement.
With a decent dual CPU machine and graphic card, the current method of simulating flashes is not so good as you can see a "ripple" in the rendering that detracts from the realism.
Thank you.

What kind of ripple?
YoWindow uses Flash technology and Flash technology does not use GPU (graphic card).
Alas, we cannot take advangate of GPU at least with the current Flash Player version.

The ripple is more or less a screen update issue.
The screen updates in segments (or rectangles) that propagate from top to bottom.
It is not a big deal, it just detracts from the realism.
Thank you.

I know this post is a year old but I didn't want to start a new topic. There still seems to be the problem with the flashing of the entire screen. I also think the flashes are coming a bit too quickly after each other, like 5 flashes in ten seconds or something. That's not really what a thunderstorm looks like.
This is just a suggestion, though. Otherwise keep up the great work

I know, I know, I know

Thank you for reminding me, now I'm sure fixing this is an important task.
I hope we will be able to handle this soon.
Though, don't know when.
But the task has a high priority now.

Hello, I just joined and did a search just for the lightning part and found it listed, glad I searched. But anyways, ya, I was wondering the same thing. I came across yowindows on a weather search and love this screensaver and that we can use it in our weather display program too. Nice refreshing/quiet screen saver. I was checking out the different weather events around the country and saw the entire flashing screen and was like, oh, geez, it would be much better if lightning bolts were showing here and there on the darken landscape, a bolt here, bolt there, at random time intervals, different intensity would be cool, if that was asking too much. Just wondering and putting my 2 cents worth in. Nice cool program regardless... love it.
