Just wondered if it's at all possible to incorporate local tides, maybe even water temperature? For those of us who live on the coast this would be an added benefit. 8)

Hey!
I do wish YoWindow to display tide and water temperatures, especially in the summer.
However, we was not able to find any source of these data that is free for commercial use.
If you know one - please let us know.

The site I use to look up tides is this one...

http://tides.willyweather.com.au/

Don't know if it would be any use to yowindow and it is only Australia.
If I find another I'll let you know. :)

Thank you, most public websites do not allow to use their data in commercial projects.

Thanks to Marty (countryroads) I have found a very valuable source of information for YoWindow.
It turned out that YoWindow can fetch buoy information from NWS website.
How do you like this map?
http://www.ndbc.noaa.gov

Unfortunately the information is quite limited, there is no way to know the water temperature on popular beaches in Europe.
But US is covered very well.
I hope some day YoWindow will show this information.

If you know any other good source of free tidal/water weather - help the prjoect - don't hesitate to share.

Looks like it would be good for America and Britain.

It's a start, we can keep looking. :)

Do Government sites allow use of their info?
This is the Bureau of Meteorology in Australia...

Hi Pasha,

I just found a site on the World's Tides. I thought you might enjoy seeing this one. The person who created this works at a university and is doing this free of charge as a public service. I do not know whether it is free for commercial use.

This is the front page of his site - http://tbone.biol.sc.edu/tide/
This is the World Map of Tides - http://tbone.biol.sc.edu/tide/worldmap.html"

Have fun with this.
