Yowindow Min, Max & Feels Like, are incorrect.

Hi
I am using Version 2.5 yowindow-xml.php and Weather Display to deliver weather data into my yowindow widget and also the yowindow program on my pc. All looks fine except for the Min and Max, and the feels like temperatures do not match that of my weather station, (Davis VP2+). The max and the feels like seem to follow the current temperature and the Min just seems to be plain wrong. I am using the latest version of Weather Display and Yowindow3 - all up to date.! Maybe it has something to do with the Metar? The Metar I am / sould be referencing is Yeovilton, EGDY, which is less than 3 miles away, and regularly updating. But the metar doesn't display the min and max temperatures, or anything that looks like a feels like. Also there doesn't seem to be any reference the the metar in the Version 2.5 yowindow-xml.php code. So prehaps this is not the problem?? What do I need to change to get yowindow to display the correct temperatures? What have missed?
Any help on this would be great.

Thanks Pete

My yowindow-xml.php can be found here. http://www.chilthorneweather.co.uk/yowindow-xml.php

Hi Pete,

What location are you using for your desktop and widget? I tried looking up Chilthorne Domer, Somerset. It is not on the database. Please put a request thru on Add Locations Subforum to have it added.

Until it is added, what are you using? I checked out your geoid of 6640031 and it is displaying the default location of New York City.

Is the widget on your website so we can check it out?

Waiting to here from you.

Marty

Hi Marty. Thanks for getting back to me.
The location I'm using is Yeovil. at least that was what I thought I was using!!
My widget can be seen at http://www.chilthorneweather.co.uk/yowindow_widget.html
Also using the same settings (yowindow-xml.php) on the pc and it displays different info for min, max & feels like. Very strange!?

Thanks Pete

You should change this parameter to

Hello again
Thanks Marty, Herman, and Jim for your contributions.
This is where I am now.

Chilthorne Domer geo id is now registered in yowindow and I am using this id in my widget. However there is no change with the feels like and min max showing the incorrect temperatures. These figures are displayed in black so I'm guessing that yowindow does not get them from my weather station? Where does it get them from? If it's from the metar, I'm not sure why they would be wrong. The closest metar to Chilthorne Domer is EGDY (Yeovilton) which is less than 3 miles away and updated regularly. As a comparison I have produced a widget with data from three separate xml files. They are listed below.

xml produced with Davis Weatherlink http://www.chilthorneweather.co.uk/yowi ... et_WL.html
xml produced with Weather Display http://www.chilthorneweather.co.uk/yowi ... et_WD.html
xml produced with yowindow-xml.php V2.5 http://www.chilthorneweather.co.uk/yowindow_widget.html

In all of these widgets the min max and feels like are are displaying the same incorrect data. To be honest the fells like value is only 1 degree celcius different from that of my weather station, but never the less incorrect. At the time of posting (23:30 utc+1) I have just witnessed the day minimum temp rise from +5 to +6. Clearly this can't be correct. now at just after midnight, max temp has jumped from +6C to +11C and the min temp from +6C to +2C. What's going on.???

Is it possible to force yowindow to use the data produced by my weather station to display the min max and feels like.?
Is this something I can fix from my end, have I got something wrong.?

Many thanks, hope you can help. Pete

Hi Folks
Has anyone got any thoughts on why I might be experiencing this problem? it is still the same - incorrect data for min, max. Is it something I can sort out from my end? Is it a metar issue? Can I force yowindow to use the data from my station for min, max, feels like?
Hope you can help.

Thanks Pete.

Pete,

Right now the YoWindow xml isn't set up to accept your min and max temps. Maybe a feature request for those.

As for the "feels like", I imagine it is calculated and it may be a matter of a different formula being used. Pasha would have to say for sure. If the above are added to the xml, perhaps feels like could be as well.

Friends, thanks for helping Pete.

Pete, not all weather parameters are possible too pass to YoWindow via yowindow.xml
You can NOT pass Min and Max temperature. I hope this drawback will be resolved over time.

However, you CAN pass feels-like temperature.
See YoWindow XML format for the details
