Hey, friends
Oriental landscape is here.
As usual, you are sitting in the first row on the premiere

- oriental_promo2.png (203.56 KiB) Viewed 10448 times
Oriental features:
- Still water
- water ripples reflect wind speed
- Reflections, though sky is not reflected
- Ice. Water freezes when temperature is less than -2 Celsius
- Kite
- reflects wind
- Not flying when the wind is less 2 m/s
- Controlled by a robot

- Volcanic smoke over mount Fuji
- 5 Seasons
We want to add a couple more features over this week.
Original landscape was drawn by Natasha and then mastered to perfection by Yura.
It took more time than we expected to finish Oriental.
Because of this we would have to delay YoWindow 3 desktop realease date till January.
I hope we to polish Oriental by Friday and then the announcement will go to
YoWindow Facebook wall and
Twitter.
Oriental will only be available in YoWindow 3 editions: Chrome, widget, online
Please give Oriental a good test, your feedback as always very welcome.
Also pay attention to other landscapes - Village, Seaside and Airport.
It may happen that I could have broken one of them.
Download YoWindow for Chrome 1.10

Hi Pasha,
I have been testing the new landscape along with the prior landscapes on my WinXP and Win7. I have found no landscape errors yet.
I have found a minor issue with 3.0 versus 2.0. I am testing on Mount Washington, New Hampshire USA again. The NWS forecast on Wednesday and on Thursday is for 21 degrees Fahrenheit. 2.0 shows snow on both days. 3.0 shows Autumn (naked) on Wednesday and shows snow on Thursday. I have tested this with Desktop (2.0) and the Widget and Chrome (3.0).
Other than the above, good job.

Hello, Marty!
Thank you for testing.
I'm happy you have not found any problems so far
Regarding the difference in season display you have found.
I have investigated the case.
It turned out that YoWindow 3 computes maximal day temperature better than YoWindow 2.0.
Max day temperature for Wednesday is -4C, the season according to season-map is naked, in this case YoWindow displays naked picture.
In 2.0, max day temperature seems to be computed incorrectly and it must be -5C or lower. Under this condition YoWindow displays winter.
Thaaaaaanks!

Hi Pasha,
GREAT

In my case no bug/fault and the best of all: the update is now overwriting the older version and it is not necessary to select the options again.
Thank you!

Hi Pasha,
I have found one minor issue with Oriental. It was raining in Tokyo and the kite was still going up in the air. Just like a question I asked you about balloons in the rain, should a kite be able to go up in the air in the rain?
I like the moon reflecting on the water. Good Job.

Marty,
kiting is a hobby of a friend of mine.
I have asked him about whether is it possible to launch kites when it's raining.
And he said - yes.
However, launching a kite in a thunderstorm is very dangerous.
So I have allowed kite to fly in the rain, but forbidden in the thunderstorm (for the safety reasons

)
Werner,
as far as I understand for Chrome the RC version and the version from the Chrome Web Store are different.
So if you have installed the previous version from the store and want to have a taste of RC you will have a new extension installed.
However if you have RC and you install a new RC - it is upgraded, new extension is not added.
Thank you, friends
New version is available.
- Fast! In the prevoius version the water effect was very slow. Now it is optimized.
- Millie goes Oriental

Pay attention that Millie is not walking out if there is snow on the ground.
Sometimes Millie is hard to find because she may be covered by the house or the bridge.

Hi Pasha,
Thanks for adding Millie!
I can't wait for the desktop version though, she's so very tiny on my 12,1" screen.....
Besides that I found that pressing the tab key changes Millie in a yellow rectangular.
This can either be open (on the village landscape) or closed (on Oriental):

Hi Pasha,
I found a problem with 'Oriental Millie'. When Millie is on the left side of the bridge (near the house) and behind the bridge, you can hover over Millie and click on Millie. You will get the tooltip with the name 'Millie' and she will fly. From the far right end of the bridge to the tree, you can hover and click on Millie, but you do not get a tooltip and she will not fly.
It is almost like you can visually see Millie, but YoWindow does not know what co-ordinates that Millie is at. But if Millie wanders back to behind the bridge and toward the house you get the tooltip again and Millie can fly again.
I also tried the tab key that Fred has mentioned. Once I press the tab key, you get the pictures that Fred has shown but you can no longer use the Up or Down Arrows for scrolling. If you press the tab key again, the city name in the inspector panel is now in a yellow rectangle and you can use Up and Down Arrows for scrolling (but yellow rectangle remains).
Once you get out of Chrome and come back into Chrome, yellow rectangle is gone and you can scroll. But the tooltip for Millie and Millie flying only works from the house to the far end of the bridge.
Will Billy be working the weekends on 'Oriental'?

Hi Pasha,
After pressing Tab, the left and right arrow key switches back and forth like the Tab key does.
These also sometimes switches to a bigger rectangular in the tree:
