Weather reports

Hi
I live 100 meters from EGAC METAR station. My YouWindow still shows me much more less clouds than I can see in my sky. For example right now I my sky is in 100% cover. YoWindows shows in the report SHOWER buy in the animation shows almost clear sky and no showers at all. I see it every day. In the report mostly clouds but in the animation sky is almost clear. Is it possible to add some extra clouds from company ;) please.

Metar stations show rain probability. Is it possible to add this information to Yowindows?

All the best

Hi Sinrex!,

just to complete your post: EGAC metar-station is located in Belfast/United Kingdom (Northern-Ireland). It's the city-airport.

YoWindow currentyl uses the EGAA-station for Belfast, which is the international airport and about 22 kilometers away from the city and its airport EGAC.

Pavel: would it be possible to get the weather for Belfast (2655984) from EGAC instead of EGAA?

I compared METAR-messages EGAC and EGAA:
"Sicht" = "Visibility", "Wolken" = "Clouds", "Taupunkt" = "Dewpoint"

EGAC has been excluded from YoWindow some time ago because of unreliable weather reports.
Today I have put it back and I hope it will be ok.
Enjoy!

Reinhart thank you much for the clarification and the wonderful screenshots.
By the way, which service have you been using to lookup METAR information?
Is it German only?

Rain probability is a weather forecast feature.
YoWindow takes only current weather from METAR stations.
The weather forecast for the world (except North America) is provided by yr.no.
Unfortunately there are no forecast probability information in these data.

It's a metar-decoder i wrote by myself - currently it's only available on my local PC - and it's german only for the moment.

I get the METAR information from a NOAA-Service (http://weather.noaa.gov/pub/data/observ ... r/decoded/[ICAO here].txt)
and the information about the airport from an api from geonames.org (http://api.geonames.org/weatherIcaoJSON?ICAO=[ICAO here]&username=[Username here]"
The maps come from Openstreetmap.org.

I'm working on a multi-lingual-version by using language-xmls like YoWindow

It's a real pity that i can't access local files from Javascript; otherwise i would have read the current locations one has set in YoWindow :(

Hi guys

I'm using EGAC to be honest with you. I'm working at this airport and know that this station working only to last flight. It's 10pm more less. Later on there is a brake to about 5.30am next day. During this brake I manually changing station for EGAA in YoWindos. But I still talking about problem on EGAC with is about 100 meters from my house. It loks like YW reading data correctly and shows information 'most cloudy' for example but in the animation shows only few clouds.
Just don't tell me that EGAC station doesn't work with YoWindows correctly, isn't it? :)

Perfectly for my it would be if YoWindows can see that when weather data wasn't update more than one hour and change METAR station for different. But how many people have the same problem with not working nearest station at night like me. No one I guess :) So don't worry about it.

All the best

EDIT:
See I using YoWindow with other maps to planning observations and photography like this one

Image

that's why it is important for me :)

And if it is possible please add to next version some satellite maps like this one
http://www.sat24.com/
or
http://meteox.com/h.aspx?r=&jaar=-3&soort=exp

Thank you.

Looks very good, Reinhart, keep up the good work :)

Hey, Sinrex!
Thanks for the explanation, now it's clear why the METAR station is not reliable.
I think I should remove EGAC from our data base again.
Don't you mind?
This is the best we can do, because people who do not understand how YoWindow works may be mislead by "Weather expired" message.

Yes, there is a problem we still have not learned how to switch METAR stations to provide the most optimal weather reports for a place.
Actually this problem is bothering me quite a lot.
I hope we will solve it this year.

Please can you take a screen-shot of YoWindow along with the Inspector and send it to me when the problem occures.
I will look deeper into the problem.
I have never seen YoWindow to show sky out of synch with weather reports.

We have not added satellite maps (radar) because we have not found a free source of satellite weather imagery yet.
Do you know any?
