High CPU usage

I found your delightful program from an Internet search, and have been enjoying it for a couple of days now. I'm not sure I'll keep using it, though, because of the demands it puts on my CPU.

I'm running Windows 7 with 4 gigs of RAM and dual core 4200+ processors, and this program consistently runs at about 65-75% CPU usage when the screen saver is active.

I've noticed this seems to be worse when it's snowing, which would indicate that the animation is taking a lot of processor power.

I have the latest version of Adobe Flash Player installed, so I don't think that's the problem.

I like to let my computer idle when it's in screensaver mode, so if I can't figure out a way to reduce the CPU usage I'll have to use another screensaver.

Any thoughts?

Thanks.

Hi,
you are not alone with this problem and there are a lot of posts here. Very often it is helpfull to use the search function in a forum:
see on top on right end. The input "cpu usage" will show you all posts about this topic.
So very often we can save a lot of time to answering questions or to help by problems or suggestions.

Dear Mountain Man, this is true, YoWindow consumes a lot of processor power.
Flash technology does not utilize GPU resources so far.
That is why all the load is put on CPU.
I hope Adobe will teach Flash to use Graphial Processor some day and YoWindow will run much faster and less CPU hungry.

By the way you can run YoWindow as a regular application to check the weather time to time.

Thanks for the help.

While this is a cool application, I'm decided to use something else as my screen saver due to the heavy system load.

Hi,
You have just properly noticed that high CPU load is while snowing. It seems to me that snowflakes are visually too big. I think it would be better either visually or for our processors to diminish the snowflakes and will not be a problem for Pasha ;) , theremore most of us has probably the dual-core processors.
