Heavy system load

Hi to you all! I came across your tool via http://www.wetterstationen.info/.

When installing your tool (optically top in my opinion) i noticed really heavy system load.

Beside very small sizes my system-monitor always show me at least 90% caused by your tool.

Do you know this fact? Maybe there are reasons for that? Or is there a way, for you, to work on this issue?

kind regards,
ikarus1969

Hey!
Do you use YoWindow for Windows or for web-page?

At Home: I am using YoWindow for the desktop on a Dell laptop. It helped making the window-size of YoWindow smaller.

On a webpage the system load is low (only high when switching from the webpage-view to full-screen. when returning from the full-screen view i can watch the system-load going back from somewhat 90% to almost zero).

Today i installed YoWindow on the laptop at the office (a dual-core machine with 2GB RAM) and there the system-load is very low! Even in full-screen-mode, but that is maybe because there are no clouds to animate at the moment?! (Vienna; sunny but cold at 8 a.m.)

I would like to thank you for your efforts to publish this program! It's optically very beautiful - i appreciate it very much.
If you every implement an option to localize the GUI i would like to contribute to the german version.

Greetings from Vienna, Austria

Hey, Ikarus!

Yes, YoWindow consumes a lot of processor time when the window area is large and if the computer is relatively slow.
I program YoWindow on a notebook 1.8 GHz - performance is not a problem.
But on my old good Pentium desktop 1 GHz YoWindow takes all the processor time in full-screen and works quite slow.
That's why we have system requirements on our Downloads page :)

Alas, I don't know how to improve the performance significantly better.
We have a technologie barrier.
I have spend a lot of time trying to make YoWindow to work as fast as I could.

A little bit of technical details in case you want to know.
YoWindow runs on Flash technologie.
And Flash does not use GPU (Graphics accelerator) at the moment.
That is why all the graphics are processed by the processor (CPU).
And that is why your processor is so busy.

I have just added a new section to our FAQ explaining how you can improve the performance while running YoWindow.
Yes, running clouds slow down YoWindow pretty hard.
Thanks for bringing up this issue and all the details!

I have almost finished implementing YoWindow localization.

It seems that most YoWindow users are from Germany.
So the German localization is very important.
I would be happy if you help us to translate YoWindow to German :)

Thank you!

At home my laptop is (a few years) old. Sorry for not taking this into account!

My laptop is also very slow, the CPU at 100% when I open the weather window, when I then close the window completely goes again
I have found out, if one takes the animation, then when wind or clouds, it works better under a clear sky which is not matter anyway

Yes, Marcus, this is how YoWindow works.
