Lightning seems easy to animate.. There are lots of lightning animations om the web. Mostly made from film or so.. That may be a task for you to work on..

And the animation is not enough.
The liteningh must be different every time.
Otherwise the effect would look poor.

Very nice stuff. It appears we share a common interest. I am a storm chaser as well. I chase severe thunderstorms across tornado alley.

We should chat about chasing storms sometime
