YoWindow Forum

When you click [x] button, YoWIndow will not exit. It will be minimized to tray.
To exit YoWindow you need to press Ctrl-Q or select main-menu/Program/Exit.

Can you send me options.xml to support@repkasoft.com?

I have finally found a method to force Yowindow to loose all PWS data. If I exit through the programs, exit the x at the top right hnad corner of yowindow everything seems OK.

Whenever I reboot/restart the computer and when Yowindow starts up it looses the refernce to the PWS.

Options.xml is as follows:

</landscapes>
<weatherStations/>
</wimo>

Once I restore the PWS parameters I can exit the program and everything remains working until I restart or reboot the computer.


The good options.xml file contents is as follows:


</landscapes>
<weatherStations>
<station id="s1" name="S P PWS" currentWeatherUrl="D:\Geoff\Harvey\Documents\yowindow.xml" autoUpdateIntervalSec="300"/>
</weatherStations>
</wimo>


As sson as I restart or reboot the options.xml file reverts back to:

</landscapes>
<weatherStations/>
</wimo>

and all references to the PWS are lost.

I want to say it again.
The [x] button at the top-right hand corner of the window does not make YoWindow to exit.
This has nothing to do with exiting from the program.
It only closes the window, but does not make it exit.

I need to look at the options.xml file.
I'm asking you for the second time.

One more question, please give me the answer to all the questions I ask.
Have you installed YoWindow 3 Alpha before?

I have sent the optiona.xml files to you. Both the good one and the bad one. Sorry for delay. I was out of town on business for a few days.

Please answer to the questions I have asked in my previous post.

I think there is one more copy of YoWindow running in the background.
It can overwrite options.xml on exit.

Looks like Yowindow is set as screensaver. Conflicts with Yowindow which is run as standard process. Stopped screen save activation and problem seems to have gone away. Checked Task manager and there was a second instance of Yowindow running, the Yowindow screen saver which I terminated.


Seems OK as I have rebooted a few times without the problem coming back. Seems you cannot run Yowindow when you have Yowindow screen saver runing in the background. Screen saver Yowindow does not seem to update the live weather deatils from the PWS, hence the second set of options.xml data?

Both YoWindow and screen-saver have to exist together flawlessly.

Can you try the following?
1. Uninstall YoWindow.
2. Restart Windows
3. Check if there is anything left from YoWindow in Task Manager
4. Check if there is anything left from YoWindow on hard drive
Search for "YoWindow" in Windows directory and on drive C:

If you to find anything - delete it (and let me know what you have found)

Install YoWindow again.

Sounds like this may be linked to my screensaver issue?

Try to find another installation of YoWindow that conflicts with YoWindow 3.
Remove it.

Had to do experimentation as I had cleaned off my computer so well there was only one lot of Yowindow files left in the correct directories.

Transfered Yowindow program filesto a spare clean computer and loaded Yowindow, without PWS. Started screen saver. Then changed settings in Yowindow to link in PWS. On shutdown Yowindow with PWS shutdown first. Yowindow screen saver then shut down and seemed to update options.xml with non PWS data. On rebooting screen saver started up and used no PWS options.xml data. When yowindows was fired up it also loaded up the non PWS from options.xml, hence no links to the PWS. From what I can see the problem seems to stem from 2 or mor copies of Yowindow running simultaneously with different configuration data. If I enable Yowindow screensaver after setting the final yowindow conguration with PWS and exiting and saving, the problem seems to go away. Still have some more testing to do with the Yowindow screen saver. At the moment I have it turned off.
