Hmmm, perhaps the minimum interval could be set in the xml thus leaving ultimate control with the xml creator/host?

Jim, I agree.
A current conditions "
refresh interval"
(reload interval) in the XML for when its a PWS is a better idea.
Maybe also introduce a "
max updates" allowed parameter after which the "
refresh" (F5) button is activated.
Let the PWS owner then decide how much bandwidth he's prepared to sacrifice.
When it's updated from NOAA it should do so
only every 30 minutes seeing that the METAR's are at most updated at this frequency.
Mine for instance,
FAJS, is only refreshed every hour and in some cases it can go up to 2 hours.
Here in Africa some METAR stations only bother updating when they have a plane arriving, otherwise not.
And most of the time most of the METAR's are stale.
Par, I don't know what your refresh interval is at this time, but if it's heavy then that's maybe why they have pulled the plug on you.
My suggestion is to download the METAR/TAF once at startup and then 5 minutes after the hour/half hour.
If the F5 refresh is there to prevent the above from happening then I think the users might be hitting it too often.
Maybe you should disable the F5 function, if the METAR/TAF has been refreshed successfully, up to the next
expected METAR update i.e. 5 minutes after the hour/half hour. AMD (amended), COR (corrected) and CNL (cancelled)
METAR's should be ignored seeing that you're only dealing with the general public here.
That should prevent Yowindow from clobbering NOAA.

Hi Bashy,
Try using a php generated XML ... have a look here:
http://www.bashewa.com/yowindow-xml.php (PHP Source)
You just then have to specify that url instead.
There's no need for WD to upload the XML every 5 minutes ... you've already got the clientraw files on your server.
... and they are FRESH.
Moon at Southern hemisphere

Hi!
The moon shadow is view differently before and after full moon.
That bug is fixed!
Pasha, Thanks!
But concerning the angle of the moon, remember my idea of
creating an image of the moon for north pole and then rotate that image
dependent of latitude.
That would solve the problem for Southern hemisphere as well as every where else,
that is if rotating an image is possible!

When in Southern Hemisphere the moon is rotated 180 degrees now.
Is it what you have proposed?

The angle of how the moon is viewed differs with latitude.
There is not only two versions!
The moon is "standing" at North Pole!
Then for the difference in latitude from North Pole to current location, the
angle of the moon is changed.
Then at the equator the moon is like a boat or a boat turned over.
At the South Pole the moon again is standing but turned 180 degrees.

I think daddylito describes what you can see on the picture below: it shows the moon
at the same time but for different latitudes.
For example the "boat" or "boat turned over" for the equator is shown on the right.
Right, daddylito?

Yes, Ikarus your right!
Or, almost right, at the equator at a given time is either the "boat"
or the "boat turned over".
By the way, how do I supply an image to the forum?
Is it possible without referring a web site?

It's possible
When writing a post, you can see "Upload attachment" below (there's "Options" and right beside it "Upload attachment").
When you click on it, you can choose a filename either by entering the path to it manually or click on the button next to the filename-box.
After you have chosen a file (the name of it appears in the textbox next to the label "Filename", you have to click on the button "Add the file" to actually upload it to the forum.

You then has the option to place it inline or delete it - for this 2 buttons appear after you have uploaded the image.

When you choose "place inline" the post is updated at the cursor position by something like this:

- YoWindow - 2010-01-25 - How to upload an image #3.jpg (46.43 KiB) Viewed 9005 times
You are allowed to upload up to 3 images.
Does this help?
(
Edit: you can manage each of your uploaded image in the User Control panel. Choose "Overview" / "Manage Attachments")
