Can't customize blogspot widget background

If you change the ratio of the uploaded foto nothing will change of course on the front end. You can change the dimensions only in the code:

I have tried tweaking the width and height parameters in the code and I still can't get the graphic to fill the box like the default graphics do.

What do you think I'm missing?

Hi Geoff!

I've had a closer look on your site and the part with the widget:

You can see that the dimension of 180x100 is ok for your image but the widget itself has to be bigger. The screenshot shows that the height of 100 includes the bars on top and bottom of the widget. So there's not enough height left for your image.

Would you be so kind and try a value of 136 (100+18+18) for the height of the widget object and tell us if that helps you out?
The 2 "18" because you are going to display 2 bars with the widget (Name and time on top (18 pixel) and time-bar on bottom (18 pixel)):
