Everything works as expected guys.
The spring is displayed for Son Severa because the current temperature is +13 C
YoWindow does obey the +5 C rule.
http://yowindow.com/help.html#season_algorithm

Werner, are you sure it is winter time in Son Severa now and the ground is covered by Snow?

Pasha,

You did the right thing by replying today, because yes everything works as expected for the moment, since it has become warmer (above 5 degrees C).
But I promise you everything was wrong when I started this post!

I can, if you like repost it as soon as temperatures go down again and wrong landscapes are displayed?

Thanks,
Fred

Edit: Sorry Werner if I'm wrong and trying to reply for you:
Pasha,

It looks to me you are getting things mixed up. Werner said that Mallorca, Valencia and Barcelona all show springtime, whereas Madrid shows naked.
But they all (should) have the same season map! Besides that there is no spring in the whole of spain.

The winter confusion goes for the netherlands, not for spain.

Hey, Fred!
Please let me know when the temperature falls below +5.

I have made an individual season-map point set in Madrid by request from luiso
Pay attention to what he is saying about snow in Madrid.
If the season map should be the same for Mallorca and Madrid I wonder who should I listen to?

Hey Pasha,

I fully understand the confusion you get when different people have different wishes, concerning the season maps.
I've read (once again) Luiso's post. This clarifies of course his request to not have a winter landscape have build in.

However, this doesn't clarify why Madrid shows naked and the rest of spain show spring.
At least not to me and obviously also not to Werner.

Could you please explain it?

Thanks in advance.
Fred

Well, here I am again.

Temperature right now is +4 C.
Amsterdam shows naked, Assen shows winter (as in first post).

Hi Pasha,

December 31st and January 1st, Mansfield had 60 degree Fahrenheit temperatures which is definitely not winter time temperatures :!:

The first two dates on my season map are 03.08:naked and 04.12:spring. When the temperatures warmed up to 60 degrees, YoWindow displayed a naked landscape as I have 03.08:naked.

If Werner had, for example, 02.01:naked and then 03.01:spring, would Mallorca display a naked landscape when the winter temperatures go above what we consider winter :?:

I keep thinking that he needs a naked period between winter and spring. Am I correct in my way of thinking :?:

Just trying to help out. ;)

Fred, it's +2 in Amsterdam right now, my YoWindow displays Winter, as expected.
The same is in the online edition
http://yowindow.com/online.html?location_id=gn:2759794

Assen is also +2 and YoWindow displays Winter also.
http://yowindow.com/online.html?location_id=gn:2759633

I don't see any problem with these Holland locations.

By the way, the season map for Amsterdam is the following
01.01:winter/02.01:naked/03.20:spring/06.21:summer/09.23:autumn/11.15:naked
(Not the one you have reported in the first post of this thread, probably it has changed over time)

Fred, I think I was not clear enough in FAQ, I hope to update it some day.
Season-maps are defined as points over the Earth surface.
There are around 50 season-map points in our data-base.
For a particular location YoWindow picks the season-map from the closest season-map POINT to the location.

There is a season-map point set inside Mallorca (by Werner).
request

There is a season-map point set inside Madrid (by Luiso).
request

So the cities that are closer to Mallorca then to Madrid will have Werner's season-map while the locations that are closer to Madrid will have Luiso's season-map.

Yessss,

Now you've led me to the solution!
My Amsterdam season map obviously was different from yours:
Amsterdam Season Map Old.jpg

Since you told me it should be equal to the one from Assen, I deleted Amsterdam, cleared the location database and then re-added Amsterdam.
Now I too have 'your' season map:

Needless to say everything works fine now!

Little by little I begin to understand how it works.
Thanks a lot Pasha,
Fred
