Do you remember a game called Little Computer People by Activision? I think your next landscape should be inside a building, with a big window to the outside so can the weather, obviously...

Then you can have one of the people from the street wandering around to house doing things: playing piano, making coffee, watching TV, etc. He can have a dog and horse can appear at the window or a cow walk by a UFO can abduct him, etc.

This would be a logical progression from the village, to the valley, to the town, to a house.
