I'm still using Windows 7, so I don't know what Miro$oft can do with 10 or 11. They may kill IE with some "forced" update. You could already have it on your OS. Like Adobe did with it's timed Flash bomb. That's one out of thousand other reasons why, I still have Win 7. The best thing to do when they kill off it is, don't open the dam thing! IE was great for doing one thing well... downloading better Browsers.

Windows 7? I hope you don't trust your bank account with that...

...have you considered linux?
Great alternative to windows 10 and perfect alternative for windows 10 installs that cant be updated to windows 11.

I've been using linux mint as my main OS since win7 64bit ticked me off...

As for Yowindow, it sits nicely next to my monitor on an old phone sitting on a tablet stand that has speakers I turn on when it rains.... flash yowindow uses way too much cpu for a screensaver so i only open it when i want to let my brain rest and stare out of a larger 'window' when the token windows machine isn't doing anything else... running it like that also lets you click on things the 'have fun' mode throws at you...

I may have been born at night, but it wasn't last night! Anyone who wants to snoop on computer, the only thing their going to find out is, what kind of porn I like. BTW; You can still get security updates for Win 7, It's a paid service from Micro$oft and from third party's.

I can see we're like thinkers. When I'm ready to give up on 7, Mint is the way I'm going. I refuse to let Micro$oft make any more money off me. Ads on a OS is stupid. I'll partition it onto my hard drive, so I can learn and play with it first.

For a monthy subscription a program called 0Patch also covers all the win7 leaks...

I paid 80$ for a slim-form-factor refurb office pc with win10pro on it for my windows needs... whole system for less than the 10pro licence itself.. as close to perfect as i can get for fighting to run 20+ year old software that has no open or modern equivalent and doesn't work in wine...

The ads can be avoided by avoiding the microsoft store and a lot of crap can be scraped out of win10, but if you dont like ads on your OS or worse an OS that likes to phone home for 'telemetry', win10 and especially 11 are not going to be for you.. ...so much registry tweaking, aftermarket software needs (openshell and windowblinds for me), making sure you don't create an online account, and a general de-gunking... ...and AFAIK certain versions of windows 11 will not let you opt-out of creating an online account.... i may be wrong on that one tho.

Cheers  to tinkering with old software and making new friends.
