Hi, I am new to YoWindow but really like it...I am also having a problem as to where I should save the picture after getting the sky transparent using GIMP...I know what it says in the following, but HOW do I get there?
"When you are done, make sure to save Landscape Image to the same .PNG file (in example: yo_pyramids.png)."
Thank you,
2BR
Help ! (in removing the sky with GIMP)
Re: Help ! (in removing the sky with GIMP)
Hi 2BR
Welcome to YoWindow
First delete the sky and make the sky transparant using GIMP
save this picture as .png for instance on your desktop.
Follow now the instructions in YoWindow.
if it fails, send the photo to me and i remove the sky for you.

Re: Help ! (in removing the sky with GIMP)
Thank you for offering to help me, but I believe I would really like to know how to do it myself..After I get the transparency in GIMP,(with the gray squares) I save it to "landscapes", and when I check it IS in there,,,BUT,,,it is back to the regular picture??? Is there a step I am missing here? ALSO,,,,How do I clear out all the pictures in the landscapes folder that I have put in?
I do appreciate the help..

In fact you can save the picture (almost) anywhere on your computer.
As long as you refer to it in the corresponding YWL-file.
Let's assume you don't know what a ywl-file is. If so, i suggest to download one of the provided landscapes here in the forum and see what's in the package (the zip-file).
There's always the picture and a file with extension ".YWL". This YWL-file is a plain text-file (UTF-8 i guess) where, beside other things you put the path to the picture of the landscape. If that path is correct your landscape will show the correct picture when opening it (opening the ywl-file) in YoWindow.
here is an example of one of my own YWL-files - look for the "src"-attribute of the "data"-tag where i put the path to the picture relative to the location of the YWL-file:

Thanks Icarus, but it looks like I am not as smart as I once thought! I can't even send you my pic to show what i was trying to do.
I guess I will just have to go with the pics that are in the YO archives.
This is really a great app, just wish I could fully use it...
Thank you for trying to help,
2BadRic

Re: Help ! (in removing the sky with GIMP)
Hi,I am back again......Please see attached pic........I am also using GIMP. I can get the photo to the transparency level, delete the sky so it has the "gray squares" (as the attachment shows) but cannot seem to save it to the proper folder. When I save to YO, it goes in as if I did nothing to the sky, meaning it looks like the original. Tell me again where I am screwing up.
Thank you,
