1.33.4 Rain/Snow chance indication

It's a challenge to indicate the precipitation chance.

We could display precipitation chance next to rain icon like this "58%"
But that would make the time bar look terrible.
Also this may be confusing - some people to read 58% as a mild rain intensity, not probability.

We want to run an experiment.
The idea is to reduce rain drops (snow flakes) transparency when the rain probability is low.
When drops are semi-transparent - rain chance is low.
When drops are crisp - rain chance is close to 100%.

This rule is only applied to weather icons.
The animated rain and snow are not affected.

When the rain chance is low, YoWindow is still displaying the rain effect as usual.
This may confuse the user.
To solve this we have added a label that indicates the probability of rain or snow.
The label only displayed when the user navigated to rain or snow in the weather forecast

The precipitation chance is available for the USA only.
However, we are going to receive it globally from met.no soon.

Please share your experience with this new feature.

Yes,'idea is beautiful, I hope that you will also in Italy , however c'is a small display error. in weatherunderground in weather live when show drizzle in landscapes appears normal rain and vice versa so also as regards the snow. What is causing this problem ??? Is there anything we can do ? Thanks

Hi Pasha,

4.4.4 Samsung Prevail is still crashing.
I have sent you the crash reports.
It crashes when I try to change locations.

4.1.2 Lenovo
5.0 ASUS MeMO pad
6.0.1 Samsung J3
all ran with no crashes.

TV is working good until you try to add a location.
TV gets Network error. Click to retry.
Clicking with a mouse did not even help.

Hi Pasha,

I like the rain/snow indicator.

Will you also display the label when there Is a high chance of precipitation?
I was looking at a day that was 100% chance of rain and there was no label.

At first, I thought the indicator was not working.
But it works really good when there is a slight chance of precipitation.

Not displaying the label when it is 100% chance could be confusing.
But I like the indicator.

As I posted just before this,
4.4.4 needs to stop crashing and
TV needs to be able to add locations.

Hi, Marty, thank you for the valuable feedback as usual!

The precipitation chance indicator is only displayed for locations in the USA.
If you to select say Leiden, the indicator will not show up when it's raining.
Also no indicator for the current weather, since it only makes sense in case of forecasts.

If the indicator is missing for US location, please send a screen-shot.

Try to uninstall/install YoWindow on Prevail device or clean up the app cache.
This should fix the problem.

I'm puzzled with location search problem on TV.
Does the weather update button work?

Hi Pasha,

The update button and landscape button work on TV.
Moving from forecast day to day work on TV.
Highlighting my location and selecting location list works on TV.
Select the search magnifying glass works.
Now I need to speak or enter the town name. That works.

Now I should have a list of locations of the same name.
This does not work.
Instead I get Network error. Click to try again.

Everything else is working on TV except that.

Since I cannot add any locations, Mansfield is all I can test the rain indicator with.
It works good as long as the forecast day has a low chance of rain or snow.
A low transparency shows a label of 25% or 35% for example.

A forecast day with a solid or dark rain/snow icon does not show a label of 100%.
It does not show a label for precipitation at all.
That is why I did not think it was working.

But the forecast was updated to a low chance and the label displayed.

Do you need to display the label when there is a 100% chance of precipitation?

I will try 4.4.4 Samsung Prevail again.
I hope my information about TV helps you.

P.S. The old build before the new server logic, TV is able to add locations perfectly.
No Network error.

Every location I'm trying in the USA is displaying precipitation label correctly even when precipitation chance is 100%.
I hope to locate the problem though.

Hi Pasha,

4.4.4 Samsung Prevail is working now.
I will test Ice Cream Sandwich and Jelly Bean later.
I was waiting on Kit Kat working.

For USA locations, I prefer to use Met Norway as my forecast.
9 times out of 10, it gives the more correct forecast.

The rain/snow indicator logic seems to work with NWS only.
If I use Met Norway for my USA locations, the rain/snow indicator logic does not work.
