Seasons Haarlem, The Netherlands

Post by PW1 »

Hello,

In Haarlem, the landscape is very rarely snowy, only a few days a year.
This year is an execption with 2 week snow ;)

Is it possible the have the winter image without snow, or even better ...only if it is colder than for example -5C

What are the dates for the seasons in Haarlem in YoWindow?

I think you can best set them for Haarlem the same as in Roelofarendsveen (The Netherlands)

Regards

Hello, PW and welcome!

I see that Haarlem is very close to Amsterdam, so I suppose Amsterdam season-map would go for Haarlem, right?

For Amsterdam YoWindow uses the season-map proposed by Fred (FvE).
This is his request.
http://yowindow.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=224#p224

You may inspect the season-map inside YoWindow in main-menu/Location/Properties

Please confirm that you do not agree with the season-map.
In this case I will remove winter altogether.

Fred, what do you think, should we change the season-map?
Get YoWindow weather app for your phone or tablet.

I've the edition for website, so I can't see the maps you are talking about. (I think)

I read the posting you mentioned.
As Fred is livng in Roelofarendsveen I assumed you changed that place for him.

Haarlem is about 15 km. from Amsterdam, so if you changed the settings for Amsterdam already, you can use those settings also for Haarlem.

Keep up the goed work!!

Hi PW and Pasha,

At this moment season images for all of Holland are as follows:

03.20:naked/04.20:spring/06.21:summer/09.23:autumn/11.15:naked/12.22:winter

This means:
20th of March: Naked (no leaves, no grass)
20th of April: Spring (leaves on the trees and some grass)
21st of June: Summer (more leaves and grass)
23th of September: Autumn (yellow leaves and grass)
15th of November: Naked (no leaves, no grass)
22nd of December: (snow)

These dates are official calendardates for all of Holland.

Fred

I know that in wintertime we more often have the 'naked' situation then we have 'winter'.
Still I prefer to see the winter image when it's winter, then to have the naked picture from 15.11 untill 20.3 (that would be over 4 months :( )
Even if we don't have snow outside, the "calendar"season map would show winter when in fact it is winter!

If PW would like to see the Haarlem map changed, then please change it for him Pasha.
But then for Haarlem only and please not for all of Holland, at least not for my place(s).

I get your point  ...it's a boaring country
Still I would prefer the followng:
15-11 - 1-1 Naked
1-1 - 1-2 Snow
1-2 - 20-4 Naked

When the temperature is below -5 degrees the snow picture (if possible)

The rest the same as Fred.

Thanks,

PW

How about an additional landscape without snow i.e. naked winter?
Here in South Africa we never get snow (maybe once every 20 years).

It would also be a good idea to be able to pick a default landscape in the XML.
That way I can quickly change it to a snow landscape in case it snows ;)

Rainer,

The seasons can be adjusted by Pasha for your location and there's another thread for that. In your script though, the <snow level="0"> tag will override that if you wish. This is a great program with awesome support.

Ok got it, if <snow level="0"/> I get a naked winter landscape ... cool.
BTW: Thanks for the xml.php script. I've made some changes to it ... I hope you don't mind.

Rainer,

YoWindow is somewhat like what I envisioned your cloud height graphic to be someday with maybe Pinto's sun graph code mixed in, but obviously YoWindow is well beyond that. You are more than welcome to the script of course, that's the reason it is there. I'm sure you'll come up with some improvements for us as we go along.
