Seasons - Las Cruces NM USA

Post by Cienega32 »

Example:
Saint-Petersburg/Russia
1. Spring starts: 22 apr
2. Autumn starts: 1 sep
3. Leaves are gone: 2 nov
Roughly noted from memory and photos:

Las Cruces NM USA
1. Spring - 20-Feb
2. Autumn - 1 Nov
3. Leaves gone - 10 Dec

If no problem, I'll update this for more accuracy in the future.

Thank you.

"02.20:spring/03.20:summer/11.01:autumn/12.10:naked"

I think "summer" should be 05.01 to be safe. April is still pretty mild and nice.

How would one define or gauge "summer" for this?

I have updated the beginning of summer.
At the moment only I can change the season-maps.
Maybe later we will give you the control over them.

Thank you!

But I am curious as to the basis of "when summer starts". You have visual signals for the other seasons - "first buds on trees", " leaves change color", and such. What would be the experience for "Summer", in your opinion?

NOTE: Las Cruces NM USA is only 50 miles north of El Paso-TX-USA (METAR=KELP) and Cd Juarez-Chihuahua-Mexico (METAR=MMCS) so I would imagine that my seasons are their seasons as well.

Wait - I see El Paso and Juarez in the database already. But only Juarez shows naked trees.

I'm going to add the pictures for each season to the forum and you will see what do I mean by summer.
Each season is reflected by an individual picture in YoWindow.

So El Paso shows different season from yours and you think this is not ok, correct?
If so I will try to fix this.
Should I?

I NOW HAVE NAKED TREES! WOOHOO!

Seeing the actual pictures (great idea!) for each season change, I agree with the 05.01:summer that I suggested earlier for my location. Seeing those pictures make it much easier to determine approximate dates.

Yes, the El Paso "Window" was/is showing the "summer view". I don't know what season data you may have for Juarez Mexico but they are literally right across the street from El Paso TX.

Side note: This has come such a long way from when I first found it - fantastic job and thank you for your time & dedication to The Project.

Now YoWindow uses the same season-map for El Paso, Las Cruzes and Juarez.
You may check this in menu/Location Properties/Season map.

Aah... Thank you much :)

Looks good - we all have "naked trees" out here now! :D

It's the little things that enhance the project - watching the jet fly across the screen... chimney smoke... moon/sun moving...things like that. That just adds so much to it.
