Hi,
Wouldn't that give you an awful lot of data to be processed over and over again?
I like te idea of course, don't get me wrong.
How many displays are there?
I've seen you distinguishing the start of autumn and the falling of the leaves, thus giving at least two different displays for the autumn right?
Also there is some standard in the program already, where is that based upon?
In general I would say, use the 'official' calendardates for the changing of the seasons, giving you a standard to start with.
For the Netherlands that would be:
- 21st of March: Start of Spring
- 21st of June: Start of Summer
- 21st of September: Start of Autumn
- 21 st of December: Start of Winter
Regards,
Fred

No, it's ok in terms of program performance.
It doesn't matter how much season information is provided.
There 5 season pictures in YoWindow at the moment.
-winter
-spring
-summer
-autumn
-naked season (no foilage)
>Also there is some standard in the program already, where is that based upon?
Sorry, I don't understand what you are asking for.
What do you mean by official calendar dates?
As far as I know the trees don't know about the calendar

To give you one example: On Oct, 14 I have green grass, On Oct 15 it's yellow.par wrote: >Also there is some standard in the program already, where is that based upon?

I take it, all four seasons have a date programmed to change right now.
What dates did you choose and why specially those dates?
You're right, the trees don'tpar wrote: What do you mean by official calendar dates?

But the seasons do, that is: they have a, more or less, steady calendardate (see the ones I mentioned).
That is why I was wondering about the grass (summer?) changing to yellow (autumn?) on oct 15th.
Where does the autumn start on Oct. 15th?

Re: Seasons displayed
Yes, YoWindow changes the picture on specific dates.
There is a data-base that contains season-maps.
Season-map is a table that describes at what date the season changes for a location.
Season-map for Saint-Petersburg looks like this
name="Saint-Petersburg"
geoname_id=498817
season_map=02.25:naked/04.02:spring/05.02:summer/11.12:autumn/12.12:naked/12.17:winter
YoWindow selects the season-map by taking the closest location from the season-map data-base
The more locations we provide, the more closely the landscape will look to reality.

Re: Seasons displayed
That's interesting.
Can you provide the same Season-map as described for Saint-Petersburg for Leiden, Netherlands, Geonames-ID: 2751773?
Thanks in advance.
Would you do me a favor?par wrote: Season-map for Saint-Petersburg looks like this

Re: Seasons displayed
Look on the different season pictures that Yowindow provides.
(Turn time forward day by day, month by month and you will see slightly different pictures)
And then what you have to decied is for a location, at what date, the application should move forward to next season picture.
E.g. Does the picture with leafs on the tree better better reflect a certain date than a picture without leafs.
If you ask 10 persons living at the same location you would certainly get 10 different answers, but it´s up to you, to do your best, there is no true answers!
I.e. someone has provided a season-map for a location and there is no proof of it´s correctness!
So, the simple task is:
At your location, for every day of the year, choose the season picture that fits best.
This is my expectation of how the application works, but a guess is that snow can be handled differently!

Re: Seasons displayed
Hi Daddylito,
That is and was already clear to me, thank you.
The thing is that I have a change from summer to autumn right now (and probably changes to other pictures as well) on a date that doesn't make any sense to me. At least not where I live. I was therefore asking/suggesting for the calendardates. After that I can and must always change these dates of course.
To name one reason: Here in Holland we can have snow, but if we do, we probably won't have it again for a number of years.
Thanks for your reply.
Fred

Re: Seasons displayed
I cannot promise you that custom season-map feature will appear soon.
Sorry
