Another Season Map Question

Hi Pasha,

I just saw a peculiar difference between two cities in Holland, Amsterdam and Assen.
Allthough I thought all of Holland had the same season map, I discovered a minor difference:

As you can see Amsterdam shows the naked and Assen the winter landscape (both on -1C).

The season map for Amsterdam is: 12.31:winter/01.31:naked/03.19:spring/06.20:summer/09.22:autumn/11.14:naked
The season map for Assen is: 01.01:winter/02.01:naked/03.20:spring/06.21:summer/09.23:autumn/11.15:naked

The season map for Amsterdam starts with 12.31:winter. The map for Assen with 01.01:winter.
I was just wondering: Is the Amsterdam map changing to winter on 12.31 this year, meaning 2011?
If that is so, I can Imagine it looks for the first possibility this year or the last one from last year (at the end of the list), both naked.

If this is how it works, should 12.31:winter not be at the end of the list, like so:
01.31:naked/03.19:spring/06.20:summer/09.22:autumn/11.14:naked/12.31:winter.

If not, what could be the reason for Amsterdam not showing the winter landscape?

Furthermore: Do you have any idea why Assen has everything shifted by 1 day as opposed to Amsterdam (and many more places I've tried)?

Hey Fred!

This is because YoWindow picks the season-map from the closest season-map POINT to the location.
There are around 50 points defined on the map.

Sounds good and understandable.
But it still doesn't clarify why Amsterdam shows naked, where it should show winter, does it?

Hi Pasha,
it seems this will be a never ending story.
Madrid and Mallorca has the same season datas ... BUT 2 days ago Madrid shows snow by plus 5 °C and Mallorca shows spring time by plus 11°C

Ah, I see the problem with Amsterdam.
Confused
Probably YoWindow did not switch the season while running in LIVE mode.
Fred, is it possible that you have been running YoWindow for 3 days without restart?

Hi Pasha,
I'm not very happy to see your focus obviously to the problem in the Netherlands. As I reported 2 replays ago, we have the same confusion in Spain.
Mallorca, Valencia and Barcelona showing spring time and Madrid naked (days ago it was much more different). All this places have the same season map datas and belive me, there is no spring time in the whole country!

I have no explanation for this different season maps. Perhaps do you have one?

Hi Pasha and Werner,

I have been studying the differences between Madrid and Mallorca (along with Barcelona).

Madrid season map is 03.01:spring/05.31:summer/09.16:autumn/11.01:naked (there is no Winter)

Son Servera season map is 03.01:spring/05.31:summer/09.16:autumn/11.01:naked/12.16:winter (there is no Naked period between Winter and Spring)

What I see happening with Madrid is that YoWindow displays a naked landscape from November 1st to March 1st. March 1st it displays spring!

If Son Servera and Barcelona had a naked landscape between Winter and Spring, would their landscapes be functioning properly?

now I'm fully confused So please step by step ...

So why we have on 6. of January spring?
Perhaps you are right, Marty, and it would be better to have also a naked period between winter and spring.

Later on I posted this: http://yowindow.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=2213 with the answer of Pasha.
I didn't notice, that the seasons for Madrid changed again for the wish of Luis, sorry.
When I had a look last week to Madrid there was definitly snow by plus 5 degrees C! Unfortunately I didn't shot a screen.

Do you understand my confusion now a little bit better?

For what it's worth, I've discovered that all places I've tried which show me the (winter) landsacape as expected, all start with 01.01:winter.
All places showing the unexpected naked landscape start with 12.31:winter.

Still wondering if 12.31:winter should be at the end of the list instead of the beginning.
