I was reluctant to translating our About page because I wanted to make it better.
Today you can see the new About page with as little words as I could and lots of pictures.
What do you think?
Would it be easy for a person who did not know about YoWindow to understand what YoWindow is about?
My special request to our English native speaking friends. Please let me know about my grammar mistakes.
New About page
Re: New About page
Grammatically it would read better this way:
YoWindow is a weather program for a new generation.
The magic of YoWindow is the living landscape that reflects actual weather.
YoWindow is the #1 weather program on CNET's download.com.
.................just a suggestion, BTW thanks again for the KEY, I try to tell everyone I can about this great program!!

Re: New About page
Dear Tom, thank you for corrections!
The meaning of the first sentence is different.
I want to tell 2 things.
1. YoWindow is a weather program.
2. This is the next generation of weather software (like Terminator 2 after Terminator 1 ).
How would you put a single SIMPLE sentence explaining this?

Re: New About page
Hi Pasha,
YoWindow is a weather program for a new generation. I am having a problem with this statement.
....for a new generation. Of people? or a new generation of weather program?
I know you are trying to say a new generation of weather program, but that is not how I am reading it.
Since I am an English major and a Math major, let me think about how it needs to be phrased.
You have the grass swinging to the wind. When I think of grass moving, I think of grass swaying in the wind.
I will think of more later.

I have updated About page according to your and Tom's advice.
May I ask you a question when I have trouble with math?

I think:
YoWindow is a new generation of weather program.
...would get those points across.

Hi Pasha,
I'm not a native in English (only a poor German "Kraut" )
I will send the German translation with private message to you.
Werner
I'm not a native in English (only a poor German "Kraut" )
but in my "linguistic instinct" it doesn't point out what do you mean.YoWindow is a weather program of a new generation.
as Tom suggested sounds better ...YoWindow is a new generation of weather program.
I will send the German translation with private message to you.

Re: New About page
Thanks, friends!
Werner, please hold on.
We will review About page with Yura.
Probably add or remove some content.
I will inform all our translators as soon as About page is ready.
I will also add About page strings to Pootle so it will be easy for you and other translators to translate.

This:

would also probably read better as

Hi Pasha,
Grass swaying with the wind - or - Grass swaying in the wind - would be better than Grass swaying to the wind.
We hope you will love watching the weather as we do. - or - We hope you will love watching the weather as much as we do.
would read better than We hope you will love watching the weather as we did.
